It'll be worth it in the end though.

    Got that right.

Pleased to report that even loaded down this weekend for the trip, i averaged 21mpg or more over the whole trip there and back on the pavement. My truck is back to being a gas sipper finally. Averaged 80-85mph on the road. Im sure if i slowed down, it would be even better:D

I had that same situation this weekend driving back from Missouri. On the way up I averaged 19 - headwinds, cold, and uphill most of the way. On the way back I averaged 25 - calm, warm, and a steady downhill. Ended up being half a tank of gas difference!

I didn't go over 75 the whole time, though, so I bet that helped.

Yeah i think the autos get a little better mileage so that probably worked in your favor too. The new gears are saving me a ton on gas. Like you said, it was about a half a tank difference on the way up there and another half tank on the way back. Theyre going to pay for themselves in no time:woot:

I’ll probably never see that with the tire choice I made and Steel bumpers and skid.

I wish I got that kind of mileage. My last trip was about 15 on average. I'm guessing you got the new gears all broken in before heading up to Barnwell

I was just gonna ask how your mileage was doing since you installled the front bumper, I guess gears might be in your future.

Tires, lift, bumper, and plano box on the roof I took a 2-4 mpg hit initially. Driving to Big Bend was awful. Like 11 mpg bad. But since then I've been getting 17-19 again. Maybe the computer learned and adjusted :notsure: Less than what I had but I'm happy with it if I can consistently get those numbers

Yeah the mileage is great, but the 2.7 is still slow as all get out:turtleride:

I barely got 600 miles on them before jambo! It was a struggle to get them done in time, but succeeded!

Locker saved me several times while out there, couldnt be happier with the gears and locker:D

Good to know as I’m still thinking about a bumper.

Especially if you go aluminum, I think you wouldn't even know it was there. Oh, plus the winch too: that's another 70 lbs. I really didn't notice much impact until I added the tires and box. I think wind resistance has had a bigger impact on efficiency than weight.

I believe your correct, depending on wind when I’m driving is how bad the gas mpg is since I’ve installed the roof rack. I’m going to try and work on it this weekend for a wind deflector. Hopefully this will make it more consistent.
