The adapter with the 1/4"x20 screw on it. Will probably be specific to that brand of tripod. What brand and model is it?

I posted an earlier version of this photo in the Blazing Blue Pearl thread. I edited in Photoshop to remove some of the distractions and changed the sky. Shot with a D700 and Nikkor 50 1.4G.

Those look good, maybe a little reduction of highlight or some dehaze in Lightroom if you shot RAW will really bring out those mountains.

What about somewhere along mulholland? It’s been years since I’ve been but seems like I remember there being a solid view of downtown from there. And theres turnouts along the road you could postt the truck up at.

I agree with this. The photos have good composure but need some minor work in Lightroom or Photoshop to really make them pop. I really think #5 has a lot of potential - that waterfall on the right is great. You could boost vibrance and play with the Highlights/Shadows/Whites/Blacks sliders in Lightroom. You could also clone-stamp out the top of the tree in the center, just the part that's sticking up higher than the forest beyond, in Photoshop. I think these few edits would really do a lot for that photo.

It’s the quick release plate that you’re missing. If that’s a major brand tripod you can find the plate online for just a few bucks. In the meantime, duck tape works too

Those were all iphone photos, shot with the iphone and 810 got back and briefly looked at the camera raws and didnt really like them much. So I didnt put too much stock in editing them, since i'll never do anything with them. I take that back the night photo is out of the camera.

Sweet I'll see if I can snap off some pics of ya. Going to be in that YXZ thats in your avatar?

I love me some 50mm 1.4. I love my canon variant, even if it is a plastic lens.. If I didnt upgrade camera bodies and get a whole bunch of other gear for shooting Dslr video, I would have probably picked up the 50mm f1.2 L by now. Im starting to become more a fan of bigger focal lengths for the stars. Wide angle lenses make the milky way too small in the sky.

I really liked the composition on this shot, so I decided to do a little retouching for you. Even if it is just an iphone picture. Id love to get this shot myself with a full frame body. What hiking trail was this again? Havent been up there since I was maybe 8 years old lol.

Man it's sad to see how fast those pine trees are dying in that area. Every picture I see over time I see more and more dead trees it seems

I shot it with the full frame as well, but it'll got a fairly shallow DOF. Entirely my fault. I briefly skimmed the card in bridge and was like nope, nope, meh, meh, nope, maybe, meh.

Wow! Pretty crazy what you can get out of an iPhone these days. Not quite rivaling a DSLR, but getting very good. Was it an iPhone X? My iPhone SE takes good photos but not as good as those.

I love my nifty fifty. I had a far cheaper 1.8D but it got run over by a car, and I replaced with the 1.4G. The 1.8 was on my D700 when it got run over... the D700 still works perfectly!

That was like the first jump champs i went to.. totally failed. Had a focus point programmed from the weekend before and forgot to check. It was focusing about 5 feet in front of all the trucks i was shooting.. all of them were not in focus to some degree. I still used a lot though cause most people arent as picky as me, i wasnt charging them any money at the time, and most of the pics were being uploaded only to Instagram. So the small screen hides my focus failure.. haha

Download the Lightroom app from the app store. I havent messed with it yet, but you can save images as .DNG instead of jpeg, essentially gaining a stop or two of dynamic range and allowing you to shot raw on an iphone sensor. You have to take the picture through the Lightroom app though, you cant use the default apple camera app.
