What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I'm thinking of the communication lines, they look just like that. My guess is a main service line that's rated for direct burial, maybe?

 

That truck looks like it’s bleeding out. Wonder how fast they were going when they hit that concrete bollard.

What do you guys think of SPC Light Racing UCA's? The guy is asking $280

 

Do they come with ball joints?

 

Yes brand new ball joints, owner says less than 3k miles of the UCA's on the truck

I noticed they use ball joints instead of uniballs like on the Chaos Fab ones. Would it make a huge difference?

 

Probably not something that’ll affect you a lot. I’d check the bushings and stuff too

I didn't realize you have to press out the OEM upper ball joints. I thought I didn't have to do that for a looonnnggg time.

You know what, despite how hard it was to remove and re-install the transmission on this truck pressing the upper ball joints still remain the hardest thing I have done on this truck.

Never done it, but I’ll take your word for it.

 

I guess it's easier with the steering knuckles on this truck. I don't know if you were around here on the week before Christmas last year, but I spent 3 days wrestling the steering knuckles to replace the ball joints. I posted updates on this thread. It wasn't fun.

 

Oh I read it, distracted me from where I was at the time.

 

Glad my ramblings on here gave someone some solace. All things aside, I'd totally do another 4WD conversion. I had a lot of fun doing it.

After all, I got to find out what 300,000 mile differential fluid tastes like after trying to remove it from the rusty 4Runner.

Hint: Not very good.

 

I was in Florida, a place the average human would love. I hated every minute.

 

Either way you go you’ll be happy. Uniballs are great but can be noisy if they get/stay dirty for a while. SPCs are what’s going on my truck this summer and I’ve heard great thigs about them as well. Their balljoint set up allows for more articulation than the stock bj so don’t let the word balljoint scare you away
