Hello guys, I bought 2016 TRD SPORT tacoma and finding lot of problems with it. need all of your guys's advice please. I'm a F-150 owner for a long time and just switched to tacoma for some reason? Don't know why!!! List of problems I have with this truck is; most to least,

    1. Super uncomfortable bumpy ride?! Comparing to F-150, the ride just almost unbreable, anybody had that problem? I mean going over small bumps in parking lots or dirt road is hell, I mean it literally shakes your organs and my wife is like fuck!! And then she says fuck you, to me, for buying this truck.

    2. BOLTED DOWN DRIVERS SEAT??? I mean really? Im a 6 foot guy and how is a midget guy able to drive this truck? And front portion of the seat is limping downwards making it very uncomfortable!

    3. I literally have 15000 miles on this truck and I'm a super careful driver. I probably only slammed my breakes twice or thrice in 15000 miles and rotars are already bent. Give the steering wheel a lot of shake on highways and sometimes make the truck feel like it's going over small bumps when applying brakes?

    4. SUPER ANNOYING TAPPING/PEN TICKING NOISE OF THE ENGINE AT IDLE! anyone had that problem? Constant tick tick tick tick tick?

    5. NOT ENOUGH ROOM IN THE BACK, wish I was born in Chinese family, No offense, then I was totally comfortable sitting the back, lmao, and yet it's Called crew cab. I was thinking about ripping the rear seat out and make some room for storage? Damn!

When it comes to mileage, it probably sucks same, if not more, gas as f-150. Yet 150 has almost 11 inches of more than tacoma in the back much bigger, more towing capacity. What would you go for?

I personally feel toyota is failing against American trucks. And hence it still holds its value like no tomorrow! Wonder why? It's A nice looking truck and probably reliable too but some there problems are manufactured, and cant be corrected, at least with my truck. I think toyota needs to work on these issues more seriously.

Any of you guys drove 150 and came down to tacoma? What are the differences you endure?

    Thanks already!

The F150 is a nicer truck all around. I can admit that. With the 2.7l Ecoboost it will scoot. More interior space, bigger bed, tows more, better mpg. But, reliability is hit or miss. My experience with them and several friends is if you get one that has problems, it's always going to have some kind of problem pop up. Or you get one that will be trouble free.
The Tacoma is smaller and will have a better resale value because it isn't a giant ass truck, and lots of people want a smaller truck.

I looked at an f150 and it checked all the boxes for me, except one. Character. As much as the f150 was better on paper, it doesn't have any soul. It's an appliance.
It's just me I guess, but almost all my vehicles have been more than anything to move me from point A to point B. They are a reflection on who I am .

I don't know why you did either. Only you can tell us, because it was your choice, not ours.

What I don't know 'why' about is why you registered on this site and made out your complaint list, when clearly you should just be moving on.

Thanks for your time though. It was a question to everyone if they have actually ran into these problems. And if they actually prefer something else or their output about it. It's a question rather than a complaint.

Thank you for your time orange Julius, your character point is right on. Totally agree with that. Yeah reliability could be a question.

It's a mid size truck, not a full size f-150. Of course it has less room in the back.

Just remember, if you get an f150 and live in a cold climate to get the heated tailgate option. Makes pushing your truck a more pleasant experience.

Well, in my world when you have a list of problems, that's really complaints. Especially when they are written with emotion and alternative comparisons.

If they were 'just' problems, your question would be 'how do I make this better'?

So you didn't do a good test drive over typical road conditions you drive on?

So you didn't do a good test drive to see how you and your spouse 'fit' in the cab? What the seat comfort was like? Adjustability?

Rotors don't 'bend'. Nor do they 'warp'. You can read about it in this link. What has happened is a result of not bedding the brakes properly, and it can be easily, and inexpensively, corrected.

    http://www.stoptech.com/technical-support/technical-white-papers/-warped-brake-disc-and-other-myths

    http://www.stoptech.com/technical-support/technical-white-papers/uneven-pad-deposit-removal

That would bug me too. But I think what you describe is part of the Atkinson Cycle and Direct Injection feature. Lots of reading on this site and even YouTube videos of same. There is no 'cure', because there is nothing wrong. It's just understanding what the noise is and tuning it out.

So, no decent test drive, trying the back seat and other areas? Wait, I've already asked that. But still. Really?

    So you didn't research www.fueleconomy.gov?

If an F150 better suits your needs, I'd definitely go for that. But you might try on a Tundra first. Or a 4 Runner, assuming you don't 'really' need an open bed.

Full disclosure. I'm not a raving Toyota fan boi. I'm also not a raving 'Tacoma is all there is' fan.

Nor do I own, or want, a 3rd gen. I'm not against them, per se, they just don't check the boxes for me. (And my boxes are usually somewhat different than most folks)

What I do ascribe to is knowing what you are buying as best you can before you buy. Which means lots of reading research, as well as extended test drives.

Enjoy your new Ford, and be grateful Tacoma's have high value retention, even if it is halo induced.

Yes indeed, but being it a midsize truck it sucks more gas than even 3.5 f-150, despite being f-150 much bigger and spacier than tacoma and heavier. More towing capacity, let alone f-150 2.7 ecoboost. That' a big point.

F-150 is built for work. Tacoma is built for play.

Going from a Ranger FX4 Off Road to Tacoma Off Road was an upgrade in ride, comfort and mpgs for me. The OR suspension does best, umm, Off Road as it absorbs the many dips, ruts, etc. but can’t handle the occassional highway bumps...Go figure. You can’t compare a full size to the mid size when it comes to ride. The full size always wins. I didn’t find the Colorado much better than the Taco when I was looking.

Back seat room, again it’s a mid size.

Ticking is the Atkinson cycle engine sipping fuel, doing its thing. If you have a cricket type chirping that’s the fuel pump.

I’m short and have no issues with the seats. The position was similar to my Ranger.

Question: Did you drive it before buying it?

So we can just type "no offense" then say whatever we want?

Waiting for confirmation from a mod before I call op, no offense, a dumb shit for complaining that a mid size truck with a sport suspension is smaller and more uncomfortable than a full size.

My Chinese family is talking about you in their secret language.
