Thank you that's exactly what I wanted to hear! Would you possibly have a web link for me for those gears?

What's your mpg and approximate elevation? Like I said in a previous post, my wife can see upwards of 20 mpg on her commute, on Houston freeways.

We got ours through Rogue Off Road in Vegas. Don't know if they're a supporting vendor, or if it's cool to post a link.

Well, I was running those KO2's on my stock wheels which I was only getting about 14.5mpg. I just installed some 16" methods race wheels and now averaging about 18.5 maybe 19mpg. So with a simple wheel change that helped. I am about 200ft above sea level. Location is Gresham Oregon. I drive about 40 miles a day as well.

Typically 18-19mpg and 750-850' elevation...but, like I said speeds are 75-80mph and the roads are NOT flat...if I slowed down I could get into the 20's :D

I feel you. We're pretty much at sea level, with the most elevation change you'll see on the freeways being flyovers and overpasses. Get out onto I-10 through the Hill Country where the speed limit is 80 mph (and I'll run 85 all day long) and we get about 16.2 mpg.

What RPM do you run in 6th @ 80mph? Mine is around 2200, so it's not bad, but also not low enough that it wants to constantly shift back and forth between 4-5-6 on the hills like it did with stock gearing. For the most part it will stay in 5-6 at speed unless I need to pass, then it will kick into 4th when I press the skinny pedal hard enough.

Yeah I mean Oregon is very up and down at least when you get out of the city area. The "back roads" are the only up an down or if I'm going out to the Forrest but regular everyday driving isn't to crazy.

We actually turn around 2,300 rpm, maybe a hair higher, at 79 - 80 mph.

grr. i can't figure out what gearing i want either. I thought 4.88s would be money with my 33"s and all the weight i carry. now I'm second guessing. right now, with all my weight, i have to be in 4th gear on the highway @3k-3.5k RPMs @~70 mph. really sucks. looking for something i can drive 75-80 and hold 5th / 6th fine with all my weight and 285s.

You probably want 4.88's if you have the AT.

Do you have a link for those gears or should I simply just google it?

Im sure you guys who “upgraded” like me from from the 2nd gen 4.0 to the 3.5 really miss the power of the 4.0. I understand now why it’s called the “turd” generation. The 4.0 wouldnt snap your neck or anything but I never felt it was underpowered. The 3.5 suuuuuucks and part of me regrets selling my 07. If 4.88’s will help correct the lack of power issue with this new engine I’m sold, because as of right now I’m considering selling my 18OR and going back to the 2nd gen...

It's not going to give you more power. If you want to go faster, put the skinny peddle down harder.

The MT almost feels overgeared on stock tires. I'm running just barely over 2000 RPM going 65.

I almost got in a wreck the other day because I put the pedal to the floor to get around a stopped bus, then remembered this wasn’t my 07 and slammed on the brakes before it was too late.

I think this may be the case... I keep hearing with 33’s run 4.56 and it’ll return it to stock, and it makes me think I should be running taller gears (4.88) to get some of that power back. I had an 05 rubi unlimited on 35’s, 4.56 gears with a 6 speed and it had more power. Granted 6th gear was worthless if there was a .000001 degree incline.

The truck wants to stay under 2k rpms even while stressed, and it’s gutless under 3k

They have a Toyota service bulletin to fix the delay of power at wide open throttle. It fixed my issues.
