Aren't we all here because we love Yota’s and the Tacoma comunity? What’s crazy is I see numerous examples of a new person to the community or to Toyota ask a questions and then Get hammered by a know it all who never touched a wrench but read 50 articles and is now a pro. It blows my mind. I have been a Toyota master mechanic for 17 years and would rather offer my help than act superior. Then I also see numerous post bashing Toyota. Could anyone explain this behavior to me?

This sort of recent, yet ever present jackassery is a phenomena that I have seen occurring all over the internet in all types of places where there are forums or public chats available to the general masses.

Why people are like this I'll never understand.

I couldn’t agree with the OP more. The internet is full of venomous people. I think it’s due to numerous reasons. Society has changed, we are a less polite tolerant society. The golden rule is becoming history. In addition the anonymity of someone sitting behind a computer is a major factor. People can say anything they want without consequence and no one knows who they are.

I'll take a guess and say there are probably 3 reasons.
#1 People see it day in day out. Probably the same 20 questions over and over.

#2 The inability to even try to use the search function or even remotely browse for an answer to their possible question/problem.

#3 Some people get offended by other people wanting "spoon fed". Especially relatively new members, members who write a question that looks like an infant wrote it. Or possibly poor grammar/punctuation.

Some people just get irritated easily.
Not all people are cut from the same cloth. And nearly not everyone has the same mindset as the next person.

Do you know how many times during my career some customer came to me to fix their Toyota and tell me what was wrong with their car and not even be close? A million. So under your theory I should just treat them like dirt because I’m tired of the same questions.

Quote me if you're talking to me, otherwise no one knows who you're talking to.

No, I'm saying people are different and have bad days and sometimes take it out on fellow members. That's all.

Even noob shit there’s no reason to respond in a mean, nasty, condescending way. Either ignore the post or respond in a polite and constructive way. All of us were noobs at some point, I’m sure all of us have asked dumb questions on this or other forums. I’m sure if the person was asking a “dumb ass” question face to face they wouldn’t get a nasty condescending reply. It’s the anonymity of sitting behind a computer a thousand miles away that makes little ignorant people rude and fearless.

Please tell me how anonymity from being on a computer a thousand miles away prevents any of these people from saying what they want to say.
This isn't 15 yr old keyboard warrior yelling "I'll kick your ass queer bait for asking the same question that someone already asked 5000 times"

You miss the point. Being remote and anonymous allows some to treat other people however they want and spew what ever they want without consequences. It’s pretty easy for someone to call me stupid when we don’t know who they are, what they are, where they are. They likely would be reluctant to treat me that way if we were in the same room together. And since few of the multi thousands of us know each other on these boards we don’t know if a person is a 15 year old keyboard warrior or a 70 year old demented pervert.

Miggsy21 it great to have someone like you on this site. Your knowledge and experience is invaluable. I was a great shade tree mechanic in the 60’s and 70’s. I built, repaired and modified numerous muscle cars back in the day. I haven’t kept up on modern car technology and electronics and am pretty much lost when it comes to the newer vehicles. Having someone like you on this site can be a huge help for me and others like me. Welcome to TW.
