Well, owning a youngster has its good and not so good times. Mommy was trying to plant some herbs for cooking (yes I live in CO, but not those herbs!). Somebody got bored this morning and tore up the planter and for some reason she just loves dirt. Luckily got to it before she sent dirt (and plants) all over. Mishka’s mommy is not going to be happy!

Mine don't seem to mind. Only problem is that they're too nice and full of energy.

So Murder Dog (aka “Lucy”) compressed two disks and slipped another. Approximately 1.7 tax returns later...

The surgeon was amazing. If you’re in or near Austin and need a vet hospital, AVES is the place.

Now, at least a month of being crated and help walking (we have a sling) to potty until that back heals. She’s partially paralyzed, but the hind legs are slowly getting stronger.

Adding this to the grand we dropped doing a specialized deworming when we first adopted her, and we’re 7 grand into this dog.

Rescue pups aren’t free, but we don’t regret a single dime of it.

My lab is the same way. You would think I'm walking him into doggie daycare. I thought it was going to change after we got him fixed, nope. Can't wait to get inside.

    Here's to a swift recovery.

Sydney had to use a sling for a while a month and a half ago. Crazy what we'll spend on dogs, but I agree, she's been worth every penny.

No, sometimes they aren't. But what they give back is priceless. I'm hesitant to ask how that happened, but I send good thoughts for Lucy's speedy recovery!!

That’s the exact same sling we’re using. I’ve found that getting a harness over her shoulders lets me steer the front half, and she’s able to move her hind legs to follow. She’s nowhere near able to stand on her own (nor should she) but keeping her from doing things she’s not supposed to do is a full time job right now.
She’s longer than she is tall, and apparently all the jumping she does has been wearing on her. She’s also stoic and stubborn (vet’s words) and could have been in pain for up to a year without letting us know. My wife’s immediate response was “stubborn? Definitely your daughter.”

The next project is building a ramp on the stairs so she can come up from and go down to the yard without taking steps, which are probably what really aggravated her spine. I just need to build it in such a way that she only uses it without using the stairs because she’s proven stubborn.

Good looking crew you have there. Your bed destroyer looks like a smart dog. Most pitties are pretty smart. This one's face looks like my female, Jelly. She's very smart.
