OR to TRD Pro Fox shocks impressions

That's what I'm thinking. I'm running 6112s on the second notch for minimal lift and they've been a great experience.

 

I dont think I have ever seen a TRD OR owner bash on a TRD Pro....

 

OP was asked to compare the two sets. He did not volunteer it. Then he just compared his experience, wasn’t done to be scientific or apples to apples.
He just gave his experience driving someone else’s rig.
So all the 6112/5160 folks need not be defensive .

 

Do you have a before and after shot of the truck? I'm looking to go this route as well.

I think the only time I’ve seen Pro bashing is when Pro owner scraps they’re suspension for upgrades.
The premise of the bashing is the pro suspension is supposedly wht the Pro owner bought the inflated priced Pro for.

I would have no problem with that though. Nothing wrong with upgrading suspension (even if it is a Pro).

As stated the KO2's may have attributed to some of the harsh ride I felt in the 6112 equipped truck. I have read others stating the 6112/Billy TRD Pro shocks do ride stiff so its no surprise. I took a gamble on the TRD Pro Fox shocks as had never ridden in a Pro before purchasing them. Never heard anyone complain about them so figured why not. Gave me the 1 inch lift up front that I wanted as well as OEM fit/finish.

Unfortunately I have read plenty of OR vs Pro bashing & its kinda ridiculous if you ask me. I would have loved a Pro for the added parts & no sunroof but I could not afford one.

I previously owned an 18 Pro and downgraded to a 17 OR. The Pro is higher in the front. Not sure how someone could argue that. By about an inch I'd say. Brake dive is worse in the OR, that's a definite.

However, I like the softer ride in the OR vs the Pro. I drive on washed out gravel washboard roads a couple times a week. The Pro bounced around and rattled my head. The OR just soaks it up. Both were on stock wranglers set at 35psi.

For what I want/need the Pro was overkill so I went OR. Very happy. I think if I was to upgrade I'd go 5100's all around and get that inch back in the front. I had 5100's on my 4Runner and liked the ride.

 

Any chance your Pro shocks just hadn't settled in yet? That sounds like the kind of terrain they were designed to eat up.

 

I had 5k miles on the truck when traded. Not sure how long they would take to break in if at all.

 

KO2's made my ride much more harsh on my Pro Billy setup (basically nonadjustable 6112's). The truck rode much better with the stock GY's. It was a noticable difference when first drove away.

That said, there is a reason Toyota upgraded to Foxes across the board now on all their Pro models.
