I hauled 35 bags of marble rock this past Sunday to go around the pool. I believe they are about 25 pounds a bag... Front was significantly higher than the rear, otherwise no issues...

I have seen a picture of a bicycle thrown over the Tailgate with one of those mats, if you were in a panic situation and slammed on the brakes would your bike go flying?

I wouldn’t be worried about the bed if your using it for household stuff. I loaded up a couple hundred pounds of granite rocks (baby boulders) into my 05...the bed was the last thing I would be worrying about if that was a regular thing for me haha

Probably not, even if they're not strapped down. But most quality tailgate mats come with straps to secure each bike and I also throw a cam strap over the rear as well.

This is the pad I've got. Race face. Has slots for each bike as well.

I put a bunch of crushed up concrete in my bed, it scratched it up a bit but overall seems fine. After a while the scratches seems to sort of disappear. Honestly, it seems like it's going to be in better shape in ten years than the metal beds that always seem to have scraped paint and dents in them. Part of the reason I liked the Tacoma over the Colorado.

The worst is tailgate pads wear down your tailgate paint offroad. Dust gets trapped between the tailgate and pad. Had it happen after a day of shuttling on 2 of my Tacoma's, 2010 and 2014. Won't ever do it again. Had an expensive dakine pad. New. For both
