My 2018 Toyota offroad doesn't have chrome rear bumpers either. Same color as the body.
Here is a pic of my Tacoma off/road with pro grille

I see you live in Santa Rosa, I work in Glendale and live West Covina. If you ever come down to south, I will sell you my spare pro grille. It is still in the box. Sell at the same price I bought it.

My advice... get 3M on the whole damn thing.
    Wish I'd have done that!

3M? I have been wanting to do that too. I’ve been reading that it discolors after a few years though and in some cases damages or discolors the paint. So now I’m not so sure. Do you have info on it?

I’m replying to my own comment here. I just read my comment again and realized it’s sounds pretty snotty. Poor me, such bad timing to get a brand new beautiful bad ass truck that most people dream of having. Sorry for that. All of the “stuff” that I have going on are all very positive (but extremely distracting) and I’m super thankful and fortunate to have the opportunities that I have. I came off as ungrateful and I actually couldn’t be more grateful so sorry if I came off like an ass in my previous comment.

    Rant directed at myself over...

Not sure. I’m buying the $120 knock off. From what I’ve read here, it’s almost impossible to tell the difference.

So how does the OEM compare to the knock off?

I read several responses that the chinese after market grilles hold up well so far. But these after market grilles are fairly new to the market so only time will tell.

Early versions of it may have had some issues with fading or discoloring but i'm pretty sure they've worked those kinks out now.
Suntek Ultra, Xpel Ultimate and 3M Pro Series are all co-extruded films with a self healing outer layer (the outer layer will "heal" small scrapes, scratches in the sun or by warming with a hair dryer).

They have some pretty serious warranties against bubbling and fading etc. We're talking 8 years long.

People have been doing their whole lamborghini's with this stuff. Pretty sure if its good to go on some guys Gallardo... it's ok for my Taco.

Brace yourself, OP, 3rd gen is a chick magnet.

P.S. I was born in Petaluma. Great town, despite the yuppies taking over.

So here we are almost 1 month in. I think I’ve fulfilled all of my white Tacoma requirements up to this point.
#1. Replace stock grill with knock off TRD Pro grill.
    CHECK!
#2. Spend countless hours looking at posts about black rims.
    CHECK!
#3. Falling in love with the 4Runner TRD Pro rims like everyone else and hoping a set will somehow fall in my lap.
    CHECK!
#4. After looking at dipping/painting/powder coating/replacing rims, decided to go with the $30 option and dipped for now to hold me over.
    CHECK!!!

Dipping isn’t my favorite option but it’s cheap and came out great and was pretty easy to do. Looks good and will help my decision to move up to replacing them with the 4Runner TRD Pros which aren’t in the budget anyway right now. Can’t really justify spending the money to PC these rims when I could put that money toward new rims.

Anyway, here are a few pics. And I dipped the badges too...

Left them on and wrapped a garbage bag around the brakes. I cleaned them of course but they were pretty clean already. Only 350 miles on it and I’ve washed it 3 times.

It was about 92 out and I had the cans of dip sitting in hot water. Did several light coats and built up to heavy. Went on smooth and dried quick.
