"Hey vendor, I want to try cerakoting your knob." <--- (hehe)

"That's a great idea! Let's work together because this could help my business. And BTW the threads can be coated."

"Hey vendor, I can't thread the knob onto my shifter."

"Oh shoot. I should have sent you instructions and shims to help align it."

    "......."

Let's not forget OP threw the part away that could have fixed this with the seller. If you had an issue with a part and had to cut it off why in the hell would you throw it away when you're going to dispute it???

To me that sounds like "This is what should've arrived in paper form with your knob, did you get these?"

Most anyone would know if you've had a part ceracoated or any other thick coating applied to a part and there's threads machined into the part that you need to run a tap to clean the threads before installing !!

Maybe. My guess is no though as the two install links point to TW threads here, not a .pdf

So the OP had no reason not to follow the instructions, yet did so anyway. Over tightened, and never checked to make sure there was no leftover debris from the powder coater.

These instructions weren't sent to him until after the knob was seized. This too was annotated in the screen shots.

This seems so simple. Coating got onto threads. Why blame manufacturer not the guy who coated the threads??

Again ...... Common sense to anyone with a mechanical background , always run a tap thru a part to clean threads regardless

This isnt that hard, because the seller told him NOT to cover the threads. Because when he designed the product he made enough clearance for coating

I started to think I was going crazy, thinking I was the only one on OPs side. I'll admit, if OP summarized what happened, and backed it up with screen shots, the thread would have gone a lot differently. People are too lazy to read the screen shots, and assumed he was in the wrong

Its not that we are too lazy to read the SS, after the first few of them they get really hard to follow, and we (as readers) get lost easily.

Yeah, true. Probably a bit of both IMO. I was only curious enough to read all of them because I was wondering why this thread blew up like it did,
