I just got back from the city council meeting and it doesn't look good for the fire station. They want new LED lights, they are going to clean the medians, fill pot holes, remove sand from peoples yards and streets that live feet from the beach, but they are closing a fire station and firing law enforcement.

Here is a facebook group to join. Not sure if it will help but its worth a try

yea they asked the fire dept to cut 1.2 mil out of their budget and the police dept to cut 2.3 mil. We only have 6 stations in ventura so it sends some areas into 10 min response times at best.

one of my teachers (fire captain) gave my class a huge lecture today about how San Jose FD is laying off three academys, and cutting pensions throughout the county. This stuffs going on everywhere. Up here the funding is between librarys and fire departments. peoples priorities are so messed up

C'mon, fire in California? Never heard of such a thing.

With all of the crap that is in the budgets, seems to me police and fire departments should be the last thing on the chopping block.

Its happening everywhere. Here, they have proposed to close 2 stations, lay off 29 people, demote even more, privatize our IT dept, and much more...or cut pay 3% and eliminate step raises and make us pay insurance. We'll see what happens.
