Regardless of the makers response timeline or tactics, OP fucked his truck up. That isn’t the sole responsibility of anybody but OP.

Also, the “I’m a college student” sham means nothing when you’re driving a brand new truck and spending money to mod it. You’re an adult.

You can't confirm the coating was only .001... At that point surface tension comes into play and on the threads it would build up. Always clean out threads.. period. If you dont know what you are doing don't do it. And if you do it wrong don't blame someone else.

Correct. But if I was OP and a vendor was like "Hey brother, I did a little research and you'll be good. Doesn't matter if you coat the threads or not." Then I, as the consumer, wouldn't think twice about getting the threads coated and installing it.

@EatSleepTacos you aren't the only one. I kept my interpretation to myself because the hounds were loose but I'll chip in now. I saw clear faults on both sides.

On one hand the customer failed to wait for instructions and re-apply anti-seize. That's on him.

On the other hand the seller shouldn't have sent the knob directly to the Cerakote guy. He (the seller) was at least in some respects involved with the Cerakote job and that was a mistake. Both the instructions and factory applied anti-seize were lost during that step and the seller should have either handled that possibility or refused to be a part of it.

It's really a series of unfortunate events...lot of things could have happened to prevent this, from either side.

That's what's unfortunate when the TW mob gets going. No one else wants to speak the other side for fear of getting torn apart. Glad you agree with me!

No one should be afraid of speaking what they think is the truth. Harden up.

Maybe that was meant for the other guy. Either way.

So OP altered it and it’s vendors fault? OP did you test for it before adding the coating to ensure it’s fitment? Did you ask the guy that coated it if he shouldn’t do the threads? Did you back off once it started snugging down with just a few threads?

Seems like we have the beginnings of a negotiation here. OP, you have the floor to counteroffer, accept or decline the offer.

I put anti seize on everything lol.
We don't need thread lock because everything will rust together here.

And really as soon as you touch aluminum you should consider anti seize. That shit binds so easily.
