I haven't read anything but the first page. Did someone suggest command+shift+4 or the Quote button as the solution?

i watched the original thread unfold, and honestly if i hadn't already done my custom milled knob through someone else, i would have been super happy to give him my business. he was very willing, communicative, listening, and detailed with the development. that's the kind of maker i would be looking for. i never saw anything questionable from him. but i also haven't read every post he's put on TW either.... since that's likely the next question coming.

It clearly says in the instructions salt is not to be used as a lubricant. Did you not get them?

Vendor is CLEARLY at fault here for selling to an entitled baby. Definitely needs to refund his hard earned money to buyer, for a product that was modified and incorrectly installed to failure.

Besides money is getting donated to charity!

I don’t think that’s gonna kill him. He’s a member with a day job, and the ability to rip some cool knobs as a service. Which was getting trashed because someone sucked at understanding how threads work. It’s been said before- if we keep blaming the makers, the makers will stop making.

I really don't think the seller bears any responsibility. Even if he neglected to hand the buyer instructions, the fact is if you want to modify a product in any way you have to do your homework to ensure it will work the way you want. Don't rely on the seller to see if there will be interference or other issues, do the research yourself.

i wish this wisdom could go in a sticky. the makers here are outstanding and give us stuff you can't get anywhere else. it's one of the legs TW stands on speaking for myself (mod addict).

My decision has nothing to do with the TW mob. I see that the OP modified the sellers item. The seller admitted from the get go that he wasn't familiar with that process. I can research something myself and still not know all the particulars of it unless I do that for a living or have actual experience with it. If I modified a product then something went wrong it's all on me. I'm not going to blame someone else that makes something that works and I fucked it up by modifying it. Not to mention if I torqued the shit out of it installing it. Especially if it wasn't in my hands for a test fit before modifying it. The logic is clear here.

Partly responsible for OP not knowing what shims were for.

    Context. Try it.
