Hey all, new member, long time truck guy. I’ve never had a Tacoma, but it’s always been my favorite truck. I’ve been in full size trucks for the better part of my driving life, as that’s what I’ve needed for work. Long story short I’ll be working from home starting in June, and I’m going to test drive a 17’ DC OR this afternoon. I’ve already bought it in my head. 8,4xx miles on it, asking 33,975. Seems pretty well equipped with heated seats and a sunroof. Is this a fair deal, or do I have some wiggle room to negotiate? Not really wanting an 18 with the TSS.

    Welcome!

Doesn’t seem like a bad deal to me. If you’re happy with the deal, then it’s a good deal! I say go for it!

Fair price depends on your location. Around here it would be a fair price. Be sure to budget 2-3 thousand for taxes.

Test drive it a good bit. If at dealer ask for an overnight.

If private seller, dig on why they are selling. Could be a problem truck.

I'd wager 25-30% of the gripes around here are related to things that a couple of good test drives, (ones w/o the 'red mist' of I've already bought it in my head) would have discovered.

Head clearance with sunroof, back seat space, driver seat adjustment, the JBL premium is lousy, bouncy on certain terrains, etc etc.

Every one of those are subjective items in a mass produced vehicle. But don't ignore them. Look for problems, then decide if you can live with them (if you find them)

    Good luck!

Thanks for the replies, I'm located in Southern West Virginia.

My main concern is the low miles and that it's already traded in. Maybe someone came from a 4.0 and wanted to go back, maybe the thing has major issues, who knows.
It's at a stealership, Clean carfax on it, although that only reveals so much.

I've got a couple good friends with 2nd and 3rd gens, I've driven/rode in them a good bit; I'm mainly wanting to test drive to see what is going on with it, or if someone just had buyers remorse and dumped it after 2 months of owning it.

I know I'll be giving up space from my current full size ride (Government Motor Sierra), it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make as I do not need all the extra room. Only thing I will haul on a weekly basis is a couple kayaks, which I have test fitted already; may end up with a hitch mounted extender eventually, but they fit either way.

There's a couple 2nd gens with low mileage I'm more than likely going to take a peek at as well.

Well it drove as expected. The 2017 is a certified used model, so I’m thinking there shouldn’t be any issues with it. I didn’t notice any off hand at least, the dealer looked at me a little weird when I crawled underneath it lol. Drove a 2015 with low miles on it as well. I really enjoyed them both. I’m letting it all simmer till the weekend to let myself think. I haven’t ruled out the 2018s completely, but the new safety stuff in them kind of has me put off.
