I think he's saying that there are some shady sellers who will try to sell you something that may look shiny but is absolutely trashed mechanically.

Groms are cool AF, there's not really anything else in their class. From there you would go up to a 250/300 class beginner sport bike.

Cost mainly. A TRDOR w/manual and no options is ~12,000 more than the OTD price on my SR.

You all are chatty AF lately, skipped 10 pages in a day just to reply. :D

Well that's a picture of a leaky shock, and you're considering buying IVD (pssst.. it's gonna happen)

Even though Cliff went with triples (which will add some $$$) but I still think the relocation is the right way to do it.

What's the point of customized setup for OEM length shocks?

Get a 12" in there, cycle the bitch with a nice Deaver pack or even dakars. An old phrase here, Buy once, Cry once. You don't need to go full ham, but if you intend on keeping the rig, why not do it right?

2.0s with resi are fine, 2.5s are just a bit more work and may require spacers (depending on offset)

Keep the shackles for now but definitely look at BAMFs new setup and shackle, fookin beefy af. Especially if you intend on dragging the ass up some rocks.

    Workin' on it....
I went with the RXT pack because of the ability to fine tune it for the amount of weight I’ll be carrying. Wasn’t planning on Icon shocks as I feel some of the other brands have some design features that are advantageous. I’ve got Archive Garage hammer hangers and the cross brace sitting in my office but haven’t been keen enough to drill out all those rivets yet.

Shock relocation would be ideal I suppose but just seems like it’s going to domino into more cans of worms that I’ll have to deal with.

So many people lie about bikes on CL. Someone that is new to riding and doesn’t know what to look for could end up buying a death trap. Getting screwed on a car/truck usually just means high repair costs, on a bike it could easily mean your life.

So if going the CL route, make sure to have someone that really knows bikes with you to help make the decision.

Alright, thanks. They're only 3,500 new so I might just go that route, and no license yet.

Go take a class and get your license right away. You may not buy for a while, but your insurance is based on length of license just as much as size of bike. They expect you to wreck in the first year, so it’s much higher.

You're going thru hell just trying to figure out the lengths of each OEM replacement tho?

DSM does the 1" shock end replacement on Kings for the Dakar pack to get the most out of the Dakar (using OEM Kings and OEM shock mounts) I assume they figured that out by cycling.

I would like to think that some have went to that extent (besides icon) on their pack and know the answer somewhere.

Knowing what I learned from my Deavers is that aftermarket pack can use every bit of a 12" shock, With or without a shackle flip.
And given that the SOA leaf packs are the same length, it's a fair guess that (Icon, Dakar & Deaver) all have similar potential.

That being said, only a relocation will use all of its potential.

So if that sounds like a rabbit hole you don't want to dive in, buy the icons that we're created around that pack and call it done.

So did y’all get over your white guilt yet? Are we allowed to talk about Juan again? What about eating beans and tacos? Can my ass reference my love of chicken and waffles again?

Or roughly the cost if a certain rifle.
Then you could go most places others here do with a 4x.
But what do I know :)
