I'm trying to get everyone's opinion on the 2009's factory stereo setup. I drive with the windows down every chance that I can and usually turn the radio up quite a bit so that I can still hear it. Much to my disappointment, I couldn't turn it up much louder than what I usually listen to it at (around 30-40 on the factory unit). I vowed that now that I got a new truck, I wasn't going to screw around with too much right off the bat, but I think the low volume is unacceptabe. Does anyone else feel this way? Also, it seems to me that the speakers in the door are much louder than the ones integrated into the headliner.

i dunno about the rear headliner speakers...as i have the DC...but the volume is low. even if u just put in a new headunit, u'll tell a big difference. i did on my 07. waiting for crutchfield to put out a new 09 harness and i'll have mine in this one as well

I guess it would have made sense to mention that I have the access cab as I can't stand having anyone in the back seat but like the extra room to put stuff both in the cab and the bed. As for the integrated speakers, I think they are right where the door and access door jam is.

Now that I have traveled with mine I understand what you mean. The level is pretty low and the kick down for the bass is at such a low volume level. I do get more output when my Ipod is connected but the radio and CD's are not the best. I am thinking that an upgrade on the factory speakers with a small amp will do the trick and still keep my Sat 6 disc head unit. Thats probably not the way alot would think I should go but thats how I feel so far.

The 2008 stereo sucks - head and speakers. I first replaced the speakers to laugh at the high quality whiz-cone technology from the 70's. For what these trucks cost, you'd think they put in something from this decade. Then I was upset as I found the stereo to have a governor on the volume like you describe. Replaced that and life is good again.

I bought a new 2009 and the speakers were pathetic (compared to my 10 year old factory speakers in an Outback). I got the truck about $1200 under invoice so I put that cash towards new Infinity Reference components and rear co-ax's as well as a new head unit. HUGE DIFFERENCE. Well worth new speakers if you appreciate your music.

Speak more on this my friend! Does the 09 require a new 09 harness? I thought the 09 would work with the 08 harness that they have listed (I'm getting my Eclipse HU from Crutchfield also). Let me know what you've found out please. Thanks!

well i havent looked on the back of the 09 HU to see how the AUX connects to it. another difference was that my 07 didnt have the speed adjusted volume like the 09 has.

I did notice that right off the bat, the speed adjusted part. Are you speaking of whether or not the new harness will come with a plug for the steering wheel controls? Or so that the new Aux plug will be used in conjunction with the new deck? Curious what changes you are looking for. Thanks for the speedy reply!

i need to take it out and see how the AUX is connected to the 09 unit. i ran an AUX port off my pioneer to use in my 07, but need to see how this one does so i'll know what i need to do to use the one thats already built in. i know they wont put the steering wheel controls in the wire harness b/c too many places out there sell the adaptor kit for them

hey i have the 09 access cab and i was just telling everyone how i hate that there is a max volume yet the speakers can do so much more, i was thinking about putting in a navigation cd player you know the works but would like it to work with the steering controls and all that, anyone have any advice?

i already have that one. i was running it in my 07 for over a year. its an older pioneer flip out unit thats easily bypassable to play dvd's while driving. i only paid $400 for it a year and a half ago.
