And that, my friends is how the average joe can stick it to the credit card companies. A little discipline and you make money at their expense.

You think the "Average joe" makes enough money a month, to charge everything and pay it off monthly? If YOU think that is how the average joe in the usa lives......

96 month car loan are the new thing. I bet these people are all paying their credit card off a month, while taking 96 month car loans ..yeah right

I don't think he is the exception, I just think a lot of people have more money than you realize.
I hear people saying stuff like how do they afford that or who can afford that, all the time.
These are always people who don't have much money or who are in too much debt. Everybody has different issues and different reasons for being where they are in life.
The cool thing is, we live in America and we can aim for the sky who do anything we want!

I struggle understanding how 1 state can have the same population as my entire country (Canada). Is there anywhere left to get away from it all?

This is a nice thought but I guess it all depends on where you live. I put 5% down and got a 3.4% interest rate. PMI is roughly $200/month.

Had I waited until I comfortably had 20% down the house would have been $50-$100K more than what I paid because of the housing market here. My house has jumped $150K in price in the 2 years I have owned it. I'll take the PMI over getting raped by rising housing prices. Also would have had to factor 1-2 years more of $2800/month rent ($33K-$66K in rent) that I would have needed to spend.

If you live somewhere that housing prices are not dramatically rising then that might be ok, but on the west coast a lot of times you need to grab it when you can.

Dude I'm of the same mindset 100%. I can't find a rear winch bumper so I'm gonna do everything I can to overbuild one myself.

Current goals are sliders > welder > winch mount > winch. Its gonna take me time to get comfortable with my skills, but I think it'll be worth it.

I suppose the counter to your statement is: if you only paid cash for stuff, you'd pay the same amount as if you paid off a CC for that same stuff every month.

It really just is about staying in your budget.

I've gotta say, this thread is going places.

The one thing I learned a long time ago is that you need to find a financial place that you're comfortable living. If you're constantly looking at the guys that are making a ton of money and spending it how they please you are always going to be sad. There is no reason why everyone can't find their own road. With that being said if I wanted to I could work 80 hour weeks every week and be able to afford a boat load more stuff for the taco I totally could, but would that really make me happy? There will always be a fine line between personal well-being and striving to keep up with the Joneses. I've personally been hoarding parts for the last 6 months by buying the big purchases as I see the funds available. If I were to buy them all at the same time I, like many, might see that as a bad financial decision. You never know when the unexpected might happen and you need funds for something.

Of course none of the above applies to any posters in this forum, since they all pay cash for their houses and trucks and mods since they are all internet billionaires :)
