    Lots.
I don't know. My moms does. But I guess they didn't get rid of it. I figured they got rid of it because someone hurt their arm getting it stuck in there or something.

?....I don't know either. I just know it's a nice feature on the 07 CRV and I wish I had it in my truck.

My Wifes Honda Accord has the passenger and driver auto up/down. It has a sensor that when any resistance is detected, it reverses the window.

Funny that this has come up. I haven't even gotten my truck yet and I was considering this as a mod. I'm sorry to hear that it is a circuit board and not just a switch swap out.

I wonder if buying the switch assembly for another toyota that does have auto up/down and swapping that out might work. I would consider spending $300 or so if I thought it might work. Seems to me it would be cost effective for toyota to use the same basic assembly for multiple cars so this may still be a possibility. First would be to find out which cars toyota makes with this feature and then see if it is similar to the layout on the tacoma. Guess I'll go over to toyota.com and look for this feature in other cars...

My wife's VW has auto-up on the driver's window (and maybe the front passenger as well?). There is no apparent safety measure... I guess they assume that anybody sitting in the front seat is responsible enough not to get hurt?

My previous car (2003 Lexus IS300) had auto-up on the driver's side... also no safety feature.

    My auto-up story:
Some friends of mine and I were test driving cars for fun the summer after freshman year of college. One of the cars we test drove was a BMW X5 at Carmax. My friend was driving and I was in the back seat. I noticed that it had auto-up on the rear windows, so and I asked the salesman if it had a safety feature that would stop it if it encountered resistance. He said, "I dunno... try it."

(If you've ever shopped at Carmax, you know how little many of their salesmen know about the cars they sell. I once encountered a guy who couldn't figure out how to turn on a Honda S2000... he didn't understand the push-button ignition, but I digress...)

So I let the window down, put my hand over it, and let it start coming up. I put a little pressure on it and snap, CRASH! Something pops in the door and the glass falls into the door and shatters. Oh well... we all laughed as we drove back to Carmax, then immediately got back in our car and left!

I thought about the safety aspectthe auto up on the Rav4. The wife and I talked about it briefly, and then the test... Same handhold, but fortunately I didnt break this one. I did have a hell of a time letting go as my hand got close to getting crushed. All I could think about was that I HAVE to stop this thing before it gets me! Then the other me, said... Hey dumbass... LET GO. Needless to say, the '08 Rav4 has no safety feature

uhh I believe ebay has the module for auto down and up for 2 windows for like $60. You guys can buy 2 of those module and bring it to your local Alarm store and they can easily hook it up for you for all 4 windows up and down with one touch, and if you have viper 5900 they can wire it to your controller so you can roll it up and down. I know this cause I just went yesterday and check with my local car alarm store....

Just a few things I would like to add.

I have an '08 DC and you don't need to take the whole door off to access the switches. You simple pull up on the surrounding and the whole piece pops off.

Secondly, I believe the switch's auto down is mechanical - the reason I say this is because you can feel it click when you press it down - unlike the other switches.

had the auto up feature on my '03 Nissan 350z and it did have a safety feature... would roll back down if it had a certain amount of down force applied to it...

This is one thing I really miss from my G35... I noticed awhile back my buddies charger has auto up/down and the buttons are roughly the same size... wonder if that might work? Something I keep meaning to look into...

I think all auto up windows have to have some safety feature on them - that's why you see it on expensive cars. I think it's a regualtion.

Now, the force to stop it may be around the choking threshold, but I don't think it would be enough to separate body parts...
