When I was greasing my zerks today, my drive shaft had the brand spicer all over it. Does toyota use spicer for their drive shafts or has mine been replaced? bought this from original owner.... was there some sort of TSB on the 05's? It looks newer than the rest of the shizz under there too

Is it a single piece shaft? Is the truck lifted? It might have been replaced to drive-line vibes or for lift angle or such. Probably nothing to be worried about if nothing else looks out of the ordinary.

Also not sure... I'd look at mine but I don't have at truck now... heh.

I am the only owner of my 08, and I have Spicer writen on my driveshaft.
P.S How do you get to the one zerk under the cross member. I can grease 4 of the 5 zerks but can't get one.

Take off the exhaust heat shield. It's held up in place by two 12 mm hex head bolts.

I didn't have to take anything off, I turned it to where I could get my zerk fitting over it from the top pointing at you laying from the driver side, there is a fine point to get it... U don't need to remove anything although might make it easier.

Thanks! That makes me feel better, although I do remmeber a toyota tech from the dealership saying "its got some spicer shaft on it" when I brought it in for axle wind up... he claimed its because it has a spicer shaft. Almost made it sound like he had never seen them...

Yes, removing the exhaust heat shield makes the second one (from the front) a lot easier. I played around and finally got the gun between the tcase and the shield and hooked up to the zerk but it wasn't easy and there was a lot of messy grease...
