What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I also wired it up that way cause I didn’t feel like running Another harness lol, then one I installed already had to points for connecting lights and could handle the amps

 

@Blackdawg I figure you would know as well as anyone. Do you if a 99 manual 4x4 ECU is compatible with a 2002 that was a prerunner.

 

Toyota liked to change the pin outs of the ECU every year. Are you trying to do a manual swap?

 

Manual and 4x4 lol. As long as it can nicely run the engine w/ blower and not throw codes just because I’m happy

Spent some time today with a sand blaster (for the first time ever) on another project and decided to clean up the rear diff a bit while I was at it. I now understand a bit more why @BartMaster1234 is crazy-into refinishing his welder - it's 'cause he gets to sand blast, and sand blasting is fun!

Sand blaster was just a cheap one from amazon, but it worked pretty well, though a bigger compressor would have been nice.

Yeah I can see how having too many wiring harnesses can become a huge pain in the ass...I had to run my grounds for each pair of lights back down the door sills and to a bolt on the fender...for some reason I couldn't ground them to my roof rack (wouldn't work). Another wiring harness or two and I'll have wires all over the place

 

Your best bet is to get a ecu out of the same year of truck as you have if you don’t want any check engine lights. You can trick your original ecu to work with the manual tranny but you will probably have CELs and I also had dead spots under wide open throttle (almost like the computer would kick out cause it thought it needed to shift). Don’t forget the clutch hardline and firewall mount down below the clutch reservoir. I don’t know anything about the 4x swap I’ve never done one.

I’ve been there once when I was in Seattle for work. Everyone was telling me spots to go downtown, I had no interest in that. I wanted to see the mountain. That park was one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. I would love to have that as my daily backdrop at work.

There’s a good book by Ed Viesturs I’ve read where he talks about guiding summit climbs with RMI up Rainier. I’d love to do it.

 

I was poking around under the hood and found this piece loose, FSM says it a intake chamber stay. Does anybody have any idea what size bolts are used to attach it to the manifold and block? As you can see the top bolt is missing, the bottom bolt is still attached to the block but loose, tried to get a wrench on it but didn't have much luck, its got a pretty good sized head on it and a bitch to get to with the way its made at the bottom.

 

Sandblasters are the best. They work better on oddly shaped objects like car horns and differentials, I actually ended up using my DA sander to do the welder parts since the sand blaster wasn’t doing much.

My front differential, the brackets for it, and every horn I sell has all went through the sand blaster.

 

That's exactly what it is doing, Toyotas with auto trans pull timing before a shift to be smoother and stress the trans less. My cruiser mentions this in the manual as a big feature haha

 

No. Different connectors.

Bottom bolt is a 14mm head I believe. You can get a ratchet on it, done it many times. Top bolt is an m10 I believe. maybe m10x20? Can't remember totally. Thats the hook to lift the motor out of the truck.
