who here has had a remap?

who here has had a remap, and what is done to your truck? Did the remap really make a big difference?

I have a CAI and CAT back magnaflow, with lift a 33's and i was just wondering if a remap would get some power and maybe even some MPS's back. MPG's went down dramatically when I did the mods.

i dont want to chip it because my buddy did that to his and now it wont pass DEQ

 

What option are you considering? I dont' know much about the Tacoma's programming options but a remap is probably going to do more damage to your MPG's.

 

of course bigger tires killed your MPG! did you think it was gonna get better?
and aftermarket performance parts wont get you better mpg either, they will give you better performance. You cant have good performance AND mpg... It just doesn't work that way.

 

ahh i see Keason1* is one of those throw in his obvious 2 cents guys, anyways back to more helpful things. i know that perfomace and MPG's arent going to get better with certain mods, but when the performance and mpg's go down then i have an issue.

so once again i will ask if anyone has done a remap with similar mods or just MAF calibrators.

 

I have a maf. Cal. It didn't seem to do much?

But Performance mods and MPG mods are not the same thing. to get your mpg back you should take your big tires off...
to get power back try getting a MAF CAL. I cant comment too much on them as I only installed mine yesterday and havent really had a chance to get out.
Beyond that Im not too sure other than long tube headers or go all out and get a S/C...then you will really see those mpgs go down the drain


oh and maybe a regear would help? I havent heard of guys getting them with 33's but if its bothering you that bad I would look into it

 

nah keason i was just giving you some shit back, thanks for the input. i have done thousand of trucks with even bigger lifts and mods but have never seen a big difference. i had the truck hooked up to the computer to see if something was wrong with the computer and nothing is wrong, so everything points back to these mods have to had lost some power somewhere along the way.....im running out of ideas

 

Unless you recalibrated your speedo somehow, your truck thinks it's covering less ground than it really is because the rolling circumference of your tires is bigger than stock. Your mileage may not have suffered as much as you think.

although...33's are kinda tall, there's a lot of rotating rubber there now...
