Question- New lift kit installed

I have a 2017 OR double cab and just installed 5100’s in the front with OME 887. The mechanic set the perch in the middle setting. I told him initially to set at the bottom since I was hearing problems when it wasn’t.

Should I be concerned at this point? The alignment seems okay right now. TIA

 

You are good- I set mine to #3 and all is fine with alignment and no bearing noises. Only some people get the bearing issue and require the ECGS Bushing upgrade.

 

There's no "problem" setting them in the middle, I'd be more irritated that you asked your mechanic to set it up one way, and he set it up a different way.

 

Ok thanks guys! I was going back and forth on whether I should get UCA’s to off set the issue.

 

How would I know if was a bearing issue?
Do you have 887’s and speak from experience? Do you get excessive rubbing on your tires?

 

You didnt mention the tire issue. Sounds like a problem if you have that too.

 

The rubbing is only when I take sharp turns. I have 285/75/16.

 

Ah, ok - well there are certain conditions where the bearing issue will come up- search for ECGS bushing here to see that. It happens after a lift, but not to everyone. I have 265/75/16’s without rubbing, 5100’s on and stock coils. My total lift up front with my 3rd click shock setting was about 1.5” - are your shocks and 887’s much higher? I would think that lowering the shock settings may exasperate your tire rubbing, especially when off-roading and going downhill on a sharp corner. My 1st Gen had 285’s and was bad for that.

 

No I think it’s about that height. I just looked and I’m not actually rubbing on the frame but against the upper control arm when I make tight turn.

 

Mine hit the cab mount, but it was a totally different model. It must look good with those tires, probably some other options here to keep them.
