I think depending on your driving would slow the failure...but yea in the long run it would likely happen. Could have just made a complete internal structure for the cap so that it really rested on the bed frame instead of the beds.

Simple metal work and forming seems way easier to me than playing games with making glass unless you got a background in that.

The 15A in the title is accurate. It will plug into recepts rated for 15amps.

@fatfurious2 #10 is great for your welder.

I read that as 15A limit which would be inaccurate, but you right.

Not sure it'll be less money, or even better. Those ends on the cords are great. Rubberized and water resistant.

When we did my rear suspension, we needed a welder. The welder requires electricity. The only option was to use a generator. The female end of the adapter (part that the welder plugged into) was easy. Just match it to what the welder had.

The male end would be plugged into the genny and therefore had to be matched to that. It was a 30amp twist lock style female end on the generator and I had to get the male version of it. All female and male receptacles have specific configurations depending on what they are rated for. See @Blackout14 picture for evidence of this. It shows the difference between a 15 amp rated and a 20 amp rated duplex receptacle. The male ends will be the same, just male.

Now, the wire to connect the twist lock male end to the 50amp welder female end was determined by the load (the welder) If you look at the cut sheet for the welder, it should specify what it wants to run. Check out the peak amps it says it will use. For the welder we used, the peak amps was like 27A if I remember correctly. #10 is good for 30Amps, but we generally like to only use 80% of whatever something is rated at. That means the peak current of 27amps could be too much for the wire to handle, seeings how 80% of 30amps is 24amps. Being that the 27Amps peak current draw was only for the initial spike in current, I felt ok using the #10.

The other thing when it came to the adapter was that the generator had a 4 prong (2 hot legs, a neutral, and a ground) but the welder only had a 3 prong plug, 2 hots and a ground. I used 10/3, which is 4 conductors.... red and black are the hot legs, white is the neutral, and the bare copper wire is the ground. I kept the ground and neutral separate at the generator, but combined them at the welder. I'm not 100% on if any of that matters really, but I know for residential electricity, all neutrals and grounds will come together at the main panel anyway.

I know I didn't link anything, but I feel as though armed with this bit a knowledge you can figure it out easily. I'm always here for questions.

I cant think of anything off the top of my head.

So what grinds my gears is you know those receptacles along a kitchen counter? I'm not sure how many years ago it became this, but the National Electric Code (NEC) says there must be at least 2 - 20Amp circuits along the counter for kitchen counter appliances. #12 is rated for 20amps. I always see electricians put in those 20amp recepts that's in the picture you attached. They're definitely more money to buy and I guess one could argue that they are a more stout recept because its rates for me. But I can't think of any kitchen counter appliances thats uses a 20amp Male end.

Edit: random thoughts of an electrician hahaha

You guys clearly haven't seen my blender. Draws 40 amps and can liquidize an entire cow in 14.38 seconds.

Maybe a little bigger gauge. I would like to bring my welder across the street and weld my neighbors gate shut. His dog keeps escaping.
