Does a 2002 Tacoma come "prewired" for an OEM Toyota alarm?

I purchased a used 2002 Toyota Tacoma 4x4, manual, xcab, TRD 2 weeks ago (will post pics in a separate post once I clean it).

When I bought my new 2002 Toyota Highlander 6 years ago, I had to buy a $400 "Alarm" from the dealer. As I understand Toyota's come prewired for an oem alarm, all the dealer does is plug in the alarm module and then you have an alarm. Less then a 15 minute process.

My question is. Does the 2002 Toyota Tacoma come prewired for an oem Toyota alarm? I'm looking for an oem Toyota Alarm.

Well I did some researching my 2002 Tacoma takes a RS3200 alarm.

I thought they all are prewired?

So if its not prewired then I have to tap into the harness?

What I understand it was a simple plug/play method. No cutting required..

 

Cheaper and better if you go after market. If it's just an alarm with no remote start the install is pretty straight forward for a somewhat handy DIYer

But I am not sure if/how to integrate the remote control?? I think this is for people who already have the keyless entry option.

 

its all plug and play. it just a pain in the ass to find the kit. the kit i bought came with 2 remotes, module, instructions, zip ties, foam tape, and the Y harness. super easy to install probably like 30 mins of work.
and i would disagree that an aftermarket one is better.

 

I had a 2001 Tacoma a few years back and I installed the factory alarm in it. It was all plug and play but it is a pain to get to everything. I think it took me about 6 hours but it was the first time I had ever done one and I was taking my time. But I do know that it is hard to find one also.

 

Did you get yours from the dealership? Why was it a pain to get? Cant I just go to the Toyota dealership and order it? I think its the RS3200 for a 2002 Toyota Tacoma.

Did you install the keyless entry only or the alarm with the keyless entry?

 

I have a 2003, not sure if its the same for 2002. I did the "free alarm upgrade" found on that taco site. In addition, I also found the LED/Glass break sensor online from a toyota dealer online. Basically, I have the fully functioning alarm system, with glass break sensor. Totally plug n play for me. But i'm not sure if it was the same way for 2002. I'm sure I did not give you any pertinent information in my post. HAHA sorry

 

When you did your "free alarm upgrade" did you already have keyless entry? I think keyless entry is required for the "free alarm upgrade".

Unfortunately I do not have keyless entry.

I will ask the dealer how much the module is for the keyless entry and the RS3200 alarm.

 

Oh yeah, forgot to mention my truck came with keyless entry already.

Does anyone know how much just the keyless entry costs at the dealer? I'm thinking I can get the keyless entry installed at the dealer then I can possibly do the "free alarm upgrade" myself as mentioned a few posts up.

I purchased a Tacoma prerunner Crewcab new in 2002 and puchased a facory alarm remote entry on Ebay most instalation was on the left kickplate in front the only aditional was the gelass break that goes in center console.

 

I am looking for a remote start add on. I would not be interested in a after market. does anyone know the part # if one exsists for this year model

 

Did factory remote start exist in 2002?
