One of my least favorite terms at work - legacy systems. Typically followed by - no one knows how to work on that, the guy that use to do it retired years ago.

Problem is that the old stuff is tied to other old stuff....... and when new stuff was added, they created applications to make the old and new interface. Everyone is afraid to try, in fear they'll bring down multiple systems.

Welcome to my world. I have been with this company for a year. the equipment is old 15-20 years. documentation is gone or in Japanese.
The customer thinks it should never fail EVER!! Parts are hard to find If Ebay is your main vender for your parts dept. your humped!
Had a conference call last week with other sites. Everyone was talking about the new equipment, then came my report. All I said was I'm giving CPR to Dinosaurs. but it pays the electric bill

Good evening everyone, I was beat yesterday. Ate dinner and fell asleep. Thirsty Thursday, but I’ll wait until Friday. I ordered a cap for the truck, 6-9 week wait, need to be patient. Hope you knuckleheads are well.

    I disagree.
With enough duct tape and bailing wire you can attach anything to anything to anyone at anytime...

I tig welded 2 2x4’s in welding class many years ago.
    Have at it. Lol

Our newer equipment is running Windows95... A good part of it is from the 1960's. Hell, we have meters with Bakelite knobs. You'd swear you walked onto a movie set from the old Godzilla movies!
