Did you get stiffer or taller coils in your icons after you added the bumper and skids? Also how do you like the rear shock relocation? I have the same setup but still stock location, just trying to avoid axle wrap.

I did not, I figured they would be enough but if I were to get a winch, I think I may have to go with stiffer, taller or both coils.

After 15k+ miles and about 18 months my driver side coilover is leaking. I'm due for a rebuild and was contemplating 14"- 700lbs springs and custom valving. Other than less preload on the coil spring, I've read that the ride could stay the same or get stiffer (which I don't want). Seeing as the recommended rebuild is around 15k (read this on a post here but ne, I may just get them rebuilt and revalved.

As for the rear shock relocation I really didn't notice a difference. I mean I wasn't experiencing axle wrap before it was done and wasn't expecting anything other than slightly more clearance on the rear axle.

So you get axle wrap with the stiff OME dakar leaf pack?

wow sounds like my coils will work for a while then. I believe it’s getting axle wrap, but it’s been stuck on the side of a mountain since Presidents’ Day weekend (went down a hill it can’t climb and ripped the motor mount off the frame trying). I also want more ground clearance in the rear and a little better flex but removing the top overload might be the key.

I have the Dakars with the D43XL AAL (220lbs AAL) and I have a little bit of axle wrap. That is also probably due in part to having a 4900lb Taco. Axle wrap basically goes away when I have the tent and bed rack off.

Whoa, hope you get your truck back soon!

The full pack actually flexes pretty well. Definitely test it out before you decide to remove any leaves from the leaf pack. I only removed the top overload on the passenger side to try and even out the height in the rear.

Heavy...makes total sense though. I have my spare, hi lift and a storage bin full of recovery gear and tools. Smooths out the ride in the rear and still no axle wrap (definitely not as heavy as having a tent and bed rack on back there).

No, just the bottom. Were you thinking of going with longer shocks for your truck?

Since I just spent money on the motor mount and maintenance I'm going to have to scale back my plan to relocate the rear shocks. I may just do the bottom for now. Did you cycle your suspension to find the extended and collapsed numbers?

Edit: I'm on AP Expo leafs which are like 3+ inches over stock.

Yeah, I'm having to repair the rack and rebuild my shock so I gots to chill on some mods too...haha.

No, I didn't have time to do all of that. It's practically in the stock location and at ride height about half of the shaft is exposed. If I remember correctly when installing them and having the leaf pack at full droop the shocks lower mount was slightly past the mounting holes on the axle when fully extended. I may need to reinstall my larger timbren bump stops to limit full compression but haven't had a chance to really look into it.

    Little update.

    06/04/2018

ICON shocks rebuilt by @Downsouth Motorsports:

Asked them to revalve it more for low speed (linear/progressive) as opposed to how they come from ICON (digressive). The ride does feel better at low speed over the same roads I drive every day. So they either changed the washer stack to achieve this (forgot to confirm with them) or it just feels much better since they're newly rebuilt.

    07/16/2018 - 226,xxx -

    Replaced the following:

    1. Steering rack
    2. Tie rod ends
    3. Lower control arms
    4. Lower ball joints

    Installed:

    1. Cam tab gussets
    2. Fuel tank skid
    3. Custom, low profile bed rack (fits inside Softopper)

@Synergy001 Ready for your visit now bruh!

I like my 14" 700lb springs on my icons. Have a bumper and a winch though. We you get them revalved what do you look to get? My ride is not my favorite at the moment. Ive never been a fan of the Icon valving.
