The Clutch Pedal in my Mustang feels like a Leg Press Machine compared to my Truck.

You're not alone. I owned my 1991 for most of 2015 overlapping with my new-to-me-then 2008 (it took me some time to deal with separating from it). I put the dashpot back on my 22R-E in the old truck because letting the throttle body slap shut irritated me, so I also think the rev hang on my 1GR isn't bad.

You want an offensive rev hang try a 2017 Forester (which is her car). That sucker actually increased RPM between shifts and let me tell you *that* is fun on a slick snowpacked road. Subaru fixed the ECU map themselves under a TSB and it's more of a normal hang now.

The '91 had right at 300k on the transmission with nothing but gear lube and clutches in its life. It didn't shift bad but I don't feel the '08 shifts any different. I think the difference I do notice is the clutch pedal feels indistinct and mushy on the '08, which I now realize is the accumulator and this is on the short list of things to fix...

FWIW the single best thing I've ever done to any Toyota manual is MT90 gear lube. Old, tired, new, whatever, they've all improved using it.

In a post-VW Dieselgate world it's all about EPA targets and this is why I think the few of us remaining gearing jambing hold-outs notice the throttle response. The engine maps are all about MPG and emissions numbers and are being built by people who didn't grow up driving sticks so they don't know how they are supposed to work.

Like that crazy rev hang I mentioned before on the Forester. I'm sure that was because someone noticed a spike in unburnt fuel getting spit down the exhaust between shifts. That wasn't present in the automatic since the transmission controller could warn the engine of an impending shift while stick shifters just go an randomly surprise the engine.

You do know that if you didn't like manual vehicles you could have bought an automatic anytime in the last 40 years.

I love driving stick. Even in the city. I think it keeps me more engaged and aware as a driver. Honestly I wish everyone did sometimes. AT drivers are constantly texting or holding a phone up to their fuckin head while they drive.

Exactly. That is one of the reasons that I ride. You'll never hear a cop telling a rider that they weren't paying attention (well, unless it is a Gold Wing).

Has anyone with a 2nd gen replaced the clutch master cylinder that is under the pedal? I need some pointers on the procedure to do this. Any help is appreciated.

I don't have the link, but there are details for this in the Service Manual. There is a 3rd Gen (2016 MY) SM floating around here somewhere. It is nice with all the bookmarks in the PDF. I would guess that there is a 2nd Gen one somewhere.

It looks to be an easy job other than dealing with the fluid itself. Not much different than a master cylinder on a motorcycle. An inlet line, the pressure line, a couple mounting bolts, and dealing with the pedal itself.

I found a pdf for it but it doesn't go into detail about how to drain or not drain the fluid. I'm a little worried that all the fluid from the resi will drain out.

If it is like the 3rd Gen (don't want to make assumptions), you can pinch off the inlet hose with a clamp. Some of the 3rd Gens are fed from the brake master reservoir (like my Sport) and some have their own reservoir.

If you want to flush the whole system if you have the separate clutch res, just open up the bleed nipple on the slave. It's going to take some pumping and another person to get it bled.
