Yesterday I installed the morimoto XB fogs I bought from @crashnburn80 last week, as well as some Phillips Hikari LED low beam bulbs. Sorry, no night time photo but together they are quite a bit brighter than stock. I didn't adjust the beam cut off, so hopefully I'm not blinding people, but I can see everything in front of me. I think I need to adjust the fogs up because they are lighting from right in front of my bumper to about 6 feet from the truck, which is so close that they're barely in view from behind the wheel. I'm very pleased though. I also changed out the reverse lights with some morimoto LEDs that Crash threw in when he shipped me the fogs (thank you again!) and license plate lights are next.

A little late now, but I suggest changing one fog at a time. Adjust the new fog to match the cut off of the OEM unit, then swap out the remaining OEM one and adjust the other replacement fog to match the previously adjusted one. Takes all the guess work out of it.

Before I got too excited about upgrading the factory fog, I checked their aim. They come pointed down way too much. Given their height, I just measure the height on the bumper and to the same height on a wall. Then set the fogs to just under that level.

Not really an issue since their set too low to start with.

I only use my fogs in the fog or on the trails.

Yeah, that would've been the way to go. I should be able to get it at an appropriate level. Do you happen to know if I can adjust these while there mounted?

I figure I'll aim them where they light up the ground 6 ft or so ahead of the truck at the nearest, therefore lighting an area I can actually see from the cab haha

Took "Street Princess" into the dealership for hopefully the last time. 25k service.

Sprung for an alignment. Went to check out they didnt have my alignment print out. Well im not paying unless I get my printout. So they had to track it down. Totally still in spec waste of money, youd think theyd say Hey its still good you dont need it but nope.

Tried to sell me on that fuel induction service for $189.99......yea no thanks.

As they sit mounted, the screw is underneath? I went in from the top to mount these instead of removing the fender liner so I hope I can reach the screw reaching through the engine compartment!

If you are talking about the hot spot being 6ft in front of what you can see over the hood, that is too close (too far down) in my opinion, but if that works for you, its all good.

My MO is that fogs are there to project light under the fog, more or less straight ahead. That's where the problem is with headlights and the angle to your eyes.

Yep. You can reach in the opening just inboard of the headlight to get to the adjustment screw.

Awesome, thanks. Do you know how far in front of your truck your fog beam starts? You mentioned what you did aiming at a wall, but then the distance from the wall matters, what about distance on the ground from the front of the truck?

    Yes. I agree.

I used to go to my HS parking lot before I moved away 27yrs ago. It was perfectly flat in both directions with the bricks helping with alignment. There is no such spot that I could find in all my years living here. Too many damn hills. Haha!

So, I'm stuck with using my garage. I put the rear wheels near the edge of the slab and use the back wall. For the Taco, it gives about 10ft to aim with.

I do the same with low beams and fogs. Measure the height to the hot spot on both the truck and the wall and set them to just a hair under that. From there to test, I pull straight forward and back. Going forward, the hot spots should move up the wall as you get closer.

For my motorcycles, I do the same thing, but for good light coverage when leaned over in corners, I set it where the beam does not move while moving forward with my weight on the bike.

We have a huge problem around here with peeps either driving with their high beams on all day and night and / or HID retrofits in reflector headlights. I have yet to be flashed in either the cars or my bikes except the one time that I got a bit sporty with the headlights in our Dodge Stratus. Between that and the Dodge minivans of the day, it was probably the worst headlights ever put on modern vehicles.

Sorry if this is obvious, but can you tell me what you mean by hot spots?

    No problem.

The hot spot is the brightest part of the light / the beam center. Like the center of a flashlight beam.

For headlights, you want to use the hot spot laterally and the beam cutoff for the top.

    Here's a google pic:

Gotcha, thank you. So on the wall 10 ft from your truck you're aiming the hot spots about even with the height of the fog fixture from the ground?
