Not sure what you're referring to with shims. You mean carrier bearing drop? If so yes I did add the drop.

I coated the ever living fuck out of them with fluid film they still don't shut up. The grease and needle might be next to try. But some of the squeak is also coming from the front bushing mount.

From what I've been told once they rust a bit after about a year and a bit they shut up. Peter said his are completly silent. So I'm hoping pretty soon they shut up. Been on for almost a year now but I also get krown treatment every year so that might be postponing the shutting up lol

In that case no. Which I'm thinking is somewhat of an alternative to the carrier bearing drop

From my understanding it depends on individual trucks. Some need it some don't. It's all dependant on driveline angles.

I have the original dakars with the an overload leaf installed.

The leafs have been very quiet. They were loud to begin with, got noisy, and are know completely quiet. I do try and pressure wash them clean but there is anti squeak pads on them.

I have the carrier bearing drop (two spacers) and thats it. no vibes (that I know of). I am unsure if I actually needed the drop but it came with it all so it was installed.

Did you feel it to be too stiff of a ride without all your gear and just the cap n whatever you had in the cubbies?

no. I originally had just the overload with nothing in the back and it was fine. You feel it is firmer, but nothing where your fillings are being rattled out. Even when I was riding around with the flat bed which is lighter than the stock bed it was fine..

no worries. They are a very firm pack that can take the weight, but they are progressive so its not all the firmness at once, which makes them flex well too. I have been very happy with them.

If your going with a new pack, the OME shocks are too short if your planning on using the full droop of the leaf pack. Been happy with the b110's from bilistein.

I am running the MD dakars (OME EL095R). Squeaky AF.

I can manage to get the squeaking to go away for awhile with some jigaloo, but as soon as I clean the underside of the truck after wheeling, it all gets washed away. Stayed for like 3 weeks last time I put it on.

I spray it in between each leaf with it, all over the pucks, up on the hangers that @Joe23 wants to let rust :annoyed:

Thats the first ive heard of that. I was going to get the rear nitrochargers. Maybe the extended length 5100 would also be good with the extended brake lines.

Edit: opps extended is the b110

Yeah. You just have to make sure your bum stops are set so you don’t bottom them out. I have been happy with both but the nitrochargers were done after 90k km

If you actually read the ad you'll see "Price lowered as a result...". Black bolts (believe it or not) are NOT readily available at a hardware store. You have to order them in, which takes a while. This is an opportunity to purchase the rack right now for cheaper.

Its somewhat beneficial to the buyer too. If they dont want to powdercoat the rack, and want to leave it as regular aluminum, they can buy stainless steel bolts instead of the black ones (stainless steel is available anywhere, lowes or home depot). Which will match better on bare aluminum.

Price is going back up when I get the black bolts in a week or two.

just a note for anyone using stainless on aluminim, the two metals do not like each other in a way and tend to seize together regardless of how tight. need some sort of an anti oxidizing coating or gasket between.
