Tried searching for info on weight from armor and lift selection with no luck. Anyone running OME 886 with stock bumpers but steel skid plates and rock sliders? My problem is figuring out how the weight of the armor is distributed.

I have been getting advice from Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road trying to figure out what lift to get. If I get an aftermarket bumper and winch, then I will need coil overs. That will be a bit down the road, so I don't want to spend that much at the moment. I am looking at Dakar medium duty for the rear for the occasional RTT on @KB Voodoo rack. With the @Mobtown Offroad skid plates and rock sliders, 315lbs, do I need the heavier 886 springs for the front? Seems like most of the weight would be evenly distributed front and rear with maybe 100lbs under/forward of the front axles.

    TIA

I have 886’s. I am running a front sos concepts streamline bumper (60lb) and alumunum skids with rock sliders. Before the bumper i had your setup with steal skids and sliders no bumper. Its ran great no complaints on the springs

Will it be too much tho? Seems like the weight will be more evenly distributed, unlike a winch/bumper combo where you have all the weight as far forward as you can get. I am not worried about too stiff of a ride, but I don't want the ass end sagging compared to the front. Nobody likes a saggy ass.

886's will be too harsh, as you won't have enough weight over the front of the truck to need the higher spring rate.

The front skid is, what, 70lbs? The sliders are in the middle of the truck and weight is evenly distributed.

If you have a trans and t-case skid, those are also towards the middle of the truck.

ETA - if you plan on a steel front bumper, then go ahead and get the 886's to avoid having to swap springs later.

Without bumpers you are ok. I have 5100’s, stock coils, a single leaf Deaver in rear, rock sliders + full steel Mobtown skids and use a heavy RTT. The setup gave me about a 1.25” lift and rides well off and on road.

As others have said though, putting on 886’s is good advice. I’m looking at getting some from @HeadStrong Off-Road now, too for handling the extra weight of a front reciever hitch mounted winch.
