Sirius Radio

Hello all,

S I just picked up my 2010 TRD. The radio is outfitted to work with SAT but i believe I need a receiver. Do I need to buy from toyota or can I buy elsewhere....say....Crutchfield?

 

Very lame. I have the same "Satellite compatible" stock head unit. Salesman told me it was around $600 to have it installed...I DON'T think so. But no you can but the needed supplies elsewhere for less and install it yourself.

You also need the sharkfin cable adaptor for the Sirius setup. It takes about 20mins to install, and thats going slow.

I bought the XM receiver and "fit kit" from toyota for $300 and installed myself in about 30 minutes. I have the instructions they give the Toyota Tech's, which I can post if anyone is interested.

So, I need the shark fin adaptor, fit kit, and sirius receiver. Sounds doable. Any instructions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help.

My instructions are only for the XM. You don't need any shark fin adapter for it. In fact you don't even need to remove the dash.

Instructions are below.

 

If you get the kit from Toyota the installation is dead simple. All the wires are the exact right length, the provided instructions are very detailed, and once installed nobody would ever notice the truck didn't come with it from the factory. Takes a little over an hour to install from start to finish.

 

Excellent....so the "toyotapart.com" link is the way to go? Is that what you mean by buying the kit from Toyota?

 

Most likely...assuming it is genuine toyota parts. I bought mine from trdparts4u.com, which is Toyota of Dallas.

I'm thinking about adding this also as I feel silly having a XM antenna and not being listen to Satellite Radio. There's also a very long trips that I'm planning about 20 months from now. Please let me know of the results. So from the instructions, you just connect it to the foot rest? Is that correct? Do you just yank the footrest out?

Also, how do you connect it to the factory connector. It said connect the antenna cable but would it just be haning there when you remove the auxiliary box?
