Andersen weight distribution hitch

Has anyone out there used the Andersen weight distribution hitch?
I will be towing a 3500# TT with a tounge weight of about 400#

I have some limited experience using in on my Casita, dry 2500#. Also towed some without the wd chains attached.

Without the chains the trailer towed reasonably well, but did a bit of porposing(sp?)/bouncing on rough roads. With the wd chains attached handling was very good. (essentially went from good to very good with wd hooked up).

 

I pull a similar weight trailer with a husky centerline with great results...

 

I run one. Easy setup, light, easy hookup, rebuildable and does its job. You can go in reverse and it is also quiet. Glad I went with it

 

Just ordered my WDH from Andersen. I'll be towing just over 5,500lbs close to 3,000 miles. I talked to Jason at Andersen. He helped me select the right kit and brackets for my application. Won't be leaving for a week or so now, but I can post with some results then.

 

Tacodelbandito, would appreciate your feedback when you return. My TT, not yet delivered, weighs about 3100# dry with a 360# hitch weight. I am going to wait until it arrives and load it up and my truck and get some real time weights. Not sure how I will get a loaded hitch weight though. Safe travels.

 

There's a few different options. I'd just search for a tongue weight scale on google. The one I bought was expensive compared to others, but it is accurate within 2-3% IIRC and will suite a wide range of use for different trailers/loads.

I just towed approx 3500# travel trailer 65-70 mph with an Anderson WD hitch.
Everything was well mannered and felt controlled. Passed through some construction with uneven surfaces and dips with no harsh effects from the trailer.

I ordered one yesterday and already received a tracking number

 

I tow 2900 lb trailer, 350 tongue wt with the Anderson. It has worked great.

I traded the trailer for a bigger one and when I took the brackets off my smaller trailer I noticed the cross bolts had dented the frame from pushing down so hard.

 

I'm planning a similar haul. How well did this hitch do? I also have a shell and Decked storage weighing down my Taco. I have a set of AirLift air bags arriving today however I think I also need to use a WDH as well.

 

You can see my WDH and it works nicely on this camper which is about 4200 loaded ready to camp. It is easy to adjust and makes no noise at all. The sway control works nicely too.

 

Do you have a picture that shows the ride level with the trailer jack taken up? I guess my air bags will account for any leveling the WDH doesn't account for.

That said, I do like that it's light weight and easy to store. The price is too high if it's truly not as effective as this video shows. I'd prefer to see an independent test of this product.

 

I don't have one with the jack up but I can tell you this, I just returned from an 1100 mile round trip and was very pleased with it. My truck sits level when the trailer is connected to it.

 

Fair enough, considering you also have a shell mounted on your Taco that says a lot for me. Yay! My airbags just arrived.
