Maybe it will help to look at it from a Final Ratio Standpoint, here's the info you need to compare 2 vehicles drive train setups:

    Engine
    Transmission and gear ratios
    Differential Gear Ratio
    Tire Size

    Your Truck
    Engine: 2TR-FE
    Tranny: R155 [gear ratios 1-5] 3.95:1, 2.06:1, 1.44:1, 1.00:1, 0.81:1
    Diff Gears: 4.10
    Tire Size: 33"

    My Truck
    Engine: 2TR-FE
    Tranny: R155F [gear ratios 1-5] 3.95:1, 2.06:1, 1.44:1, 1.00:1, 0.81:1
    Diff Gears: 4.56
    Tire Size: 33"

The only difference between our trucks' drivetrains is the differential gears we have installed. I used a tire size calculator to pick my gears so my final ratio would be the same with 33" tires as it was stock. Did you? You're definitely losing power and opperation well outside of optimal efficiency. What kind of gas mileage do you get?

Got the transmission gearings here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_R_transmission#R155

i have had 4.56 ....and it was nooooo where near stock and 4.10 are the close. im sure 4.33 would be perfect but we all know how much thoes are

im talking from experiance in my truck with both set of gears im sure auto and 5 speed have a big impact

I have the "8.4", but the differential gear ratio is the only thing that matters. It's what tells you how many turns from the transmission output shaft = 1 turn of the axle.

If you like the way 4.10 gears feel with 33s, then more power to you man. Do what drives best for you. All I know is that even with 32s and 4.10s the power loss was noticeable enough to bother me.

you have 16 rims and i have 15 in rims....thats why 4.10 dont feel enough for u but for me with a 15 it feels good

Rim size doesn't matter at all. Just tire diameter.

Thanks for posting the final drive ratio, I was curious exactly what it was. Also I'm running the 265/75 with 4.10 and absolutely hate it haha oh well soon enough :)

Yeah the shitty part is that for that tire size you need 4.30 gears, but those are impossible to find. Getting 4.56s and being on the high side of the ratio was WAY better than being on the low side.

Have you tried putting in a K&N filter and removing the secondary filter yet?

Drew I'm going with the cooper 255/85...remember haha

Ya I got an afe with the secondary removed with dt header and jardine exhaust and still feel it, no bueno. I'm waiting till I got the money to install the arb then put the gears in :) should be a nice setup here towards the end of summer

ugh now im just cofusing my self lol

i just know that the MINIS aka 5 lugs 4.10 were the best and 4.56 were a little to much ...
but most minis dont run 33's so im kinda in a group of very few trucks

As far as final ratios go, 33s are 33s
You'll figure it all out soon enough. Just keep searching for more information and eventually it will all click.

I might be able to convine my brother to dyno mine, but what would you compare it to?

There are stock dynos. Ones that run the 245/75 and 4.11's. I guess for now compare it to that until someone with a 4.88 gets on board!

The dynos from Toyota are going to be a little higher than the results you would get from driving a stock truck onto a dyno yourself.
