Older skater Guys & Punk ass kids BS thread

Thought i’d share this!I am familiar with this location but never really thought so much about it even seeing skateboarding footage on videos etc.throughout the yr’s.Have even camped and off-roaded quite a few times in the surroundings of this area(Joshua Tree,Idyllwild etc.)

So this is Desert Hot Springs(Palm Springs,CA.)This particular spot is “Desert Garden Ranch”once known as a nudist resort.The kidney bowl “Nude Bowl”is a few dirt mile roads off of Highway 62.

My buddy Jonathan from SoCal Skateshop was just there and this is the pic he sent me.Based on what he told me this pool was frequently skated up into the mid 90’s until it was filled in with dirt to eventually be dug up and destroyed due to various reasons of things occurring there over past yr’s.

My friend Jonathan spoke with the guy who is in the picture and he said back in the mid part of 2016 from what he had heard some people had spent a few days and dug all the dirt out to be skateable again.He had also heard that the city of Desert Hot Springs were still considering to demolish the pool and have it be no longer.Well it still exists and my buddy said it was a worthy experience due to professional skateboarders and others that i mentioned in the beginning skating this decades ago.

@Bergster36 have you ever been out to this spot since your localer?

@bigbarlo @BLKTRUCK or anyone else SoCal locally to us that want to check it out before the summer weather kicks in let me know.We can always off-road in the spots we’re all familiar with and camp at.

 

Is it still skateable? I used to hit it back in the 90s when I lived in Idyllwild.

Thats awesome. I heard it was gone. Been a long time.

 

It’s been filled, emptied, shot up by the sherries, filled and emptied... it’s been going pretty strong for the last few years!

Dude I had that poster on my door in my bedroom as a kid growing up! So sick!

 

Haha... believe it or not, I used to be able to shred pretty well back in the day. Never was able to get air. But could pull off “one wheelers” all day long.

 

Dirk you are awesome! Skating pools is not for the faint of heart. I was mostly a street skater and the pools I did have access to were gnarls barkley...kudos broda

Mike McGill has a skate shop in Encinitas. McGill’s. That’s where I get all my skateboard equipment (decks, trucks, wheels, helmets, etc.) for me and my son. He was a shredder by 5 years old.
