So, Here I am. I'm finally going to get back into shape. Here is a little of my story.

I was in really good shape. Used to lift weights and run 6 miles 3 times a week and 3 miles on off days. I was diagnosed with a degenerative corneal disease. It took 2 years with surgery and trying to get contacts to fit before i could see well again. I was so wasted and tired from crappy vision that I just couldnt get myself to go to the gym anymore. Glasses do not work because of my disease. I was used to eating a lot and gained weight quickly. well here I am at 280lbs. My goal is to get back down to 190lbs at 6'1" with bit of a build I am pretty skinny at 190.

So, I'm going to keep a little sort of blog here and hope to get some others to join in and share their progress. It helps to motivate me and hopefully others.

Yesterday was day 1. I ate pretty well and did 30 pretty intense mins on the eliptical machine. I am currently at 280lbs and will report again in a week.

Today I am eating even better. Hope to keep this trend up. Headed to the gym again in a few minutes for another 30 mins of elipitcal.

Anyone who wants to join me in this. Send me a PM and give me your weigh in and I will add it to this first post. I will take weigh ins on Mondays from now on.

    Weigh ins:
    PRS
    5/18/2010 - 281lbs
    5/24/2010 - 277.6LBS
    6/1/2010 - 275

First pic: The goal: to look like this again (those who have met me from here will shit their pants that i used to look like this)
second pic: Ok ok... Sigh... here is the current condition pic. Please if you have negative comments keep them to yourself.

well, when i got back from basic training 1.5 years ago i was 185 pounds 6'. Now im 200 pounds. I guess im not in too bad of shape, but i need to put some muscle on and get rid of this fat. I also need to get my cardio up so i can run more.

My application got accepted in Alaska for State Trooper, so i need to get my act together to pass the tests and get the job!!

Now, How do i lose fat, gain muscle. And at what points of the day to start taking protein drinks? Ive heard, before and after workout, and when you wake up in the morning. I dont want to be a body builder, but i do want to be in really good shape, so that way i know i will have no problems running and doing all the tests required.

If you aren't trying to be a body builder- Fux protien. If you eat a decent diet you'll get more than enuf. Too much and you start to strain your kidneys and can cause yourself more problems than progress.

Lose Fat = Cardio. Swim, Bike, Run, P90X, Crossfit, MMA sparring. Take your pick.
Gain Muscle- Some of the above and weights.

I'm getting on the come back trail myself. I swam competitively thru high school and college. I'm 5'9" and weight about 158 in season (which is a little skinny for my liking) 160-165 is ideal for what I want. Right now...I'm almost 190.
Today was the second day of really working out for me. I've been using http://www.presidentschallenge.org/index.aspx to track what work outs I've been doing (It gets me some brownie points at work too...)
http://www.hundredpushups.com/ (and the linked sites for 200 situps, 200 squats, and 25 pull-ups) are pretty good too.

I have been running 3 miles a day offroad wanting to get back in shape, I got real lazy during winter and I know how you feel, you just feel sluggish and discusting, I have cut out all crap food and eating 2 meals a day no snacks and no pop, that along with the running I have lost 15 pounds in two weeks and hoping to get another 15 off before I start lifting weights hard again.

Well... as embarrassed as I am, I posted a current condition pic.

Just got back from the gym. Did another pretty good 30 mins. Started stretching good before and after as well. I'm pretty amazed that it's not harder given my current condition. tomorrow I plan to cut out coffee, my daily energy drink, and diet soda. That part is going to be rough, but I can do it. Will probably be a real asshole till i adjust. :D

I'm with ya Seth, good luck! I'm trying to loose those "love handles" from the winter... Gonna be tough but well worth it. Again, good luck and keep us updated!

Way to go brother, I'm 5'7 and 123 soaking wet. I have the exact opposite problem. I used to hype out in the pool back at the unit. I am trying to lose my winter fat and gain a little more muscle without jacking up my shoulder or neck again. I started running 3 mi every other day and weights up to about 30 lb with a lot of reps. I'd reccomend swimming if you want to shed some weight. my .02 though. Best of luck amigo.

i recommend doing a green tea kick. try and stay away from the liptons as they are full of sugar. but it will give you that caffeine buzz with a lot of other healthy incentives. really good ice cold with a little bit of honey for natural sweetener.
