    I'm just going to play this out. I needed Tundra brakes. So, I moved from 15" wheels to 16" to fit those. Of course, that meant that I needed new tires. But my only option with 16" wheels was to get E-rated tires, so I did. Man, those ride rough - so it's soon time to upgrade the suspension on all four corners so I can valve the shocks appropriately.

    Yep, Tundra brakes are in my list of "most expensive upgrades."

    That's why after hearing testimony from those that have done it, it now falls on my list of mods with the most "eh" change in driving characteristics. Right under deckplate mod :p My truck stops well and I could buy better pads and rotors so that's enough of an upgrade path haha. But you're suspension was gonna need sorting anyway so you can thank the tundy brakes for impetus haha

    I thought about getting that pod setup but it would require removing my oh-shit handle, which I rely on quite a bit on the trail...afraid I'd go to grab it out of instinct and pull the gauges off lol.

    Question for you, you have a scanguage? Correct? And a stock intake?
    What is your intake temperature compared to outside temperature run when your going down the road at 65mph?
    I have a cold air intake and wondering if there is any difference compared to the stock setup.
    My intake temperature is usually 5-7 degrees warmer then the outside temperature when going
    down the highway.

    It shouldn't, currently the intake has a huge metal resonator hanging right over my exhaust header and it gets really hot to the touch. It has another plastic one that also gets toasty. I bought some header armor and this more direct pipe to the airbox should lower temps and help the flow to the supercharger.

    He get's to choose the answer, so he could choose the first one, hahahahaha!

    How long do a set of coilovers generally "last" - do the shocks and springs have a different working life? (i.e. do you generally have to rebuild the shocks before springs are worn? Or vice versa? Or they last about the same?) I'm wondering if with all the extra driving I'm doing these days, whether it'd be time for new fronts anyway soon. You know, trying to justify that I "need" new ones :)

    The way we use our trucks 15-25k is all that should be expected for rebuild intervals. Sometimes shorter, you'll know when they're toast though. More road miles the longer they'll go. Springs wear out eventually but mine are seven years old and still good for my truck, but without fancy scales and such I can't tell you if they're still 650lb or not. I can tell you that you could replace them every other rebuild if they need it or not and it won't break the bank.

    There’s a huge difference. I find that the mirror temperature is only 1-2 degrees off from the weather app forecast while the intake is about 10 degrees different.

    I wish my brakes where better. But im due for pads and rotors anyways so that will help.

    20-30k for what we do or every 2 years is common. up to 50k if you're gentle on them...which you aren't so whatever.

    Not that hard to do yourself, just need basic tools and a nitrogen setup. I need to build a better coil compressor as i'm due on all my coilovers. And all 3 trucks will end up with rebuildable shocks anyways.

    So I actually had an opportune chance to activate 4WD when I couldn’t find parking and I found a spot on a dirt hill. But I was too lazy to get out and lock the hubs. I can see why people like ADD so much. I just drove up in 2WD and called it a day.

    Anyway. On the way out I locked the hubs and tried backing up in 4LO for shits and giggles, and I noticed how much the truck was resisting moving backwards but was moving anyway from the added torque of 4LO. Then I hit the road with the back tires and suddenly the truck would not move anymore and I would hear screeching and grinding from the rear. I’m like oh shit what did I do this time...

    I turned the truck off freaking out blocking the exit road with tons of cars trying to get past me. The truck wouldn’t start. The neutral safety switch has been wonky ever since I did the swap and sometimes when you’re in Park it doesn’t actually register so the truck won’t turn over unless you jiggle the gear lever.

    I get out and unlock the hubs and start the truck again. To my surprise it started fine, I try shifting into Reverse and I noticed something weird...

    I left the god damn parking brake on.

    It’s been a long week.

    This reminds me that I really need to adjust my parking brake, mine will barely hold me on a slight grade let alone while giving it gas.

    Fun little tidbit from this, you can make ghetto locker by putting your parking brake on a bit and using 4low to overcome it that way both wheels spin. I got in way over my head in mud on road that had formerly been dirt. Used that to get out
