Bought a new 2018 trd off road dblcab couple weeks back. Noticed passenger floor soaked . Took it to dealer. They say there is a large hole n the fire wall and need to send it to a body shop to fix it. I wait a day or so and start needing a few things from my truck. So I call the service advisor . He says they took the front end apart and most of the interior to access the problem.also they won't authorize a new carpet kit even though the old one is soaked and already smells like mildew.
I'm not feeling good about this . It may never be right again and have a lot of rattle to it like a nissan. Certainly it will affect the value and report on car fax hurting resale . Idk . Says it will take 2 weeks. Not sure what to do . Any ideas ?

Take it back in as a lemon and trade it for a new one.
Large hole in the firewall doesn't sound good at all

Yeah I'm thinking that . Not sure if toyota will see it that way or not . It sucks to have a 40 k new truck that has been disassembled by a random body shop .

So you bought a truck that came with a big hole from the factory and you didn't try to install anything or cause this hole yourself. Do you drive threw loads of water all day long. Please tell me your not taking your brand new truck and subjecting it to some crappy gas station car wash. I'm curious how the firewall hole caused that much water damage. If a factory plug was missing its on them. How do you get a random firewall hole? Discharge a firearm from the inside.

No install of anything other than a pro grill and window tint. No car wash. Seriously a huge hole so they said (toyota service) from the factory. Not even been in the rain since I have had it.

Yeah I'm with that. From the conversation with toyota service advisor the truck has been disassembled. I'm just in shock.

I do not know where the hole was located or the size. All this info comes from service advisor at toyota .

I would say just let them complete the work and see how it goes.
Trust they fix it right and dont start poking the bear yet.

Deffinately some carpet should be on the list though if there is lingering smell. Park it on the dealers lot for 2 days and tell them to take a good whiff when you open it up for them. And work with them to fix any loose ends that might come up.

Try to get in contact with Toyota.
They’re pretty good at least while you’re under warranty.
    You don’t want a lemon.
Why did they need to send it to a third party.

Maybe one of the guys installing your tint spilled his 64oz slurpee on the floor and didn’t say anything. I’ve seen crazier things.

A hole in the firewall would have to be massive to let that much water in. Usually it’s a window leak or roof leak.

I've had a serious leak in one of my vehicles, not my Tacoma, enough were I would have 1" of water on all the floors, soaked headliner and water dripping out of the overhead console. I left it like that for over a month and finally fixed it when I got tired of wet vacuuming out the water. It smelled musty, the interior windows would also be soaked every morning just from all the condensation from the water. I finally fixed it, wet vacuumed the interior twice and it took months to completely dry. I'ts been about 8 months now but the mildew odor is gone. I'm sure once the leak in your vehicle is fixed and the carpet dries out it will be fine. Hard part is getting all the water out of the insulation under the carpet. If it is extremely soaked pulling out the carpet to dry would be a good idea. If the dealer won't do it, do it yourself. Good luck, I have nothing good to say about any car, truck or Jeep dealer I've ever dealt with.

I’d have wanted to see the hole in person and would have taken pictures. They won’t tell you where it is?
