I called about West Bush Lake.

Shelter 1 is available, but $260. Shelter 2 is cheaper, at $180, but they're currently not taking reservations for it due to a parking lot resurfacing project. She wasn't sure if the shelter was completely unusable during this time though and told me to call in a week or so when she would probably know more.

I'm not convinced we need to blow $260 for this. If we each pitch in 20-30 bucks we could probably make Shelter 2 work, if they end up taking reservations. Or we just show up that day and snag a couple lone picnic tables.

I'd agree, I think shelter 2 would work fine. I'd happily pitch in 20-30 bucks to reserve it. The again I'm totally good with picnic tables as well.

Do we have a rough head count for the meet?

Agreed. But I would like to do a park, so we can hang out next to our trucks and check them out. Also as of now I plan on bringing the wife and kid, since they're interested in exploring the park.

I'm perfectly down with commandeering a few rogue picnic tables. I'd be open to showing up a bit early to do so.

What if we brought a foldable table or two? Then we are basically guaranteed to have a spot no matter how busy the park is. We could certainly tailgate as well

That's kind of my concern with reserving something. I have no idea. At this point I'd guess maybe 10-12....? The lady on the phone asked me how many people I'd be reserving for, because shelter 2 is only good for 100. I had to laugh.

From the looks of it finding picnic tables won't be a problem at all, I'm down to skip the reservation in favor of a few picnic tables

Watching that man fish is painful. Security is probably there so he doesn't hook anyone with his casts.

I plan on being there early-ish (11?) and won't stay for super long, since I'll have the fam with me.
