Yea, that was the plan, but I acquired a new one and am running it right now. Hopefully it doesn’t end up like the old one, but if it does I do plan to beef it up.

Well one big FML truck no start, not even the engine or my tire light that won’t ever go off comes on. Tried to use a jump starter an all I got was some dash lights. Off to dealer later get battery tested and a new bolt for negative cable. If it not the battery I guess the girl will be getting put on a truck and towed. Will have to get a rollback, since it’s 4wd and pulled nose into a garage..

P.S truck started just fine yesterday morning, I haven’t had any problems with starting and never leave any lights or anything turned on.

I'd say it's just the battery, id go ahead and check the alternator to though. Sounds like battery is dead and jump box didn't have enough power to run everything alone. If it was something else, you wouldn't have lights or anything with the jump box I wouldn't think.

It was the battery. Also 70% of my fix goes to cycle gear... lmfao the ever so slightly rusted bolt on the negative cable broke when I tried to take it off. Luckily I had a big bolt set for the dirt bike/ ATVs and it’s all metric, couldn’t find a damn bolt any where els that would work.

LOTS of windrock can be seen in 2wd. Get a map and stay on the easy (green I think) trails. They are gravel roads. You can see lots of cool stuff there without 4wd. Go for it.

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
I'm so done with working on my truck. Might just pay a shop next time.

Center bearing on drive shaft plus new ujoints this time.
Had yoke out of phase, had to disassemble & rotate yoke. Had scrubbing sound on test drive, had to disassemble yoke and adjust dust shield on bearing. Still ended up with a grease fitting 180° off from the others. :annoyed:

I wish I had time to work on mine. It’s been sitting in my garage half ripped apart for a week and I don’t know when I can get to it next. Two jobs + newborn = no sleep * no free time...

Let me get another brain on this. @lowinhz

My 4Runner, the old headunit wasn't working and the speakers were shot so...

I installed a new radio and new speakers up front, still waiting on new rear speakers to be delivered.

Went ahead and ran new wires everywhere. New speaker wires, power to the radio and a ground wire going all the way back to the battery.

Because the motor has been swapped and the wiring harness tied together (4.3 harness/ecu is controlling the engine, Toyota harness is speedometer/fuel gauge, headlights and signal lights etc. The oil psi/water temp/volt etc is all mechanical).

Because of the harness' and such, I wired the power wire to a toggle switch but left memory wire going into old harness, (memory wire is still good).

What's happening is when I put a fuse in my block (accessory block wired to battery that runs lights, electric fan, stuff like that, all on toggle), it'll blow the fuse immediately.

However, if I pull the plug out of the back of the new radio, toggle off, put a new fuse in the block and flip the toggle switch on, I have a light at the switch. Got power there, cool. I then plug the radio in and I have a fully working radio/cd/Bluetooth, everything works awesome. If I flip the toggle off and back on, fuse blows.

The only way I can make it work right now is to unplug the harness on the radio, put a new fuse in, turn the toggle on and plug the harness into the radio but once it's off, that's it.

No amp or rear speakers right now, all unused wires are taped and isolated individually.

The only thing I can figure out is either the switch is trash or the new headunit is trash (it is honestly, it's a Walmart special Dual lol)

Anybody have any ideas? I flipped wires on the toggle for shits and giggles and that didn't make a change. Pops a 30 amp fuse but I can have it running on a 7.5

Replace toggle switch or maybe wire to a switched ingnition wire to do away with switch. If that don’t work make sure ground is good and that radio is not grounding through the antenna. All else fails pull radio and test on bench. Also make sure that memory wire is not tied to a old interior light wire. Those things change polarity when they go out or something. Pull the memory wire and put it on the toggle or run it up to the battery on its own or tap a fuse that is always hot.

I was going to change the toggle out and see if that helped. The antenna isn't hooked up currently...could that be my problem

As far as grounds, that's why I went ahead and tied the ground wire to the radio to the ground wire on the switch which runs all the way back to the battery.

I may run a new wire for the memory straight to the battery/fuse block and let it be on its own circuit and see what happens.
