Go to CVJ and pick up a reman shaft. I got one for the GX, was $118 plus tax and maybe a Core charge if you don't pull your axle first.

I do have a need for some help coaching Mod day? doing this..
Have never done one don’t want to go into it blind
I’ll tape it for now and maybe someone could give me a hand replacing it in the near future.
So when the next one goes I know exactly how to take care of it

 

I wouldn't even waste the time taping it. Buy a replacement and try to get it done some time this summer, that small drop on the boot won't cause the whole joint to go bad immediately. You have plenty of time to source parts and replace.

 

I have a spare for the core charge cvj will charge you

Agree with this. I let one ride completely torn for over a year before I replaced it. The only thing that sucks is grease splattered on LCAs and such.

 

If ya have a trailer I may have weekend access to skid steer

 

Let me know and I’m willing to help. Was it driver or passonger side? Have you done the ecgs bushing already?
Don’t forget to get gear oil couse you might as well drain the front dif

 

You can leave it open and yes grease will slowly seep out and get every where. Where dirt and mud can stick to. Then try and wash and clean everything later. Or tape it and not deal with the mess. It’s all up to you @303tacoma But for me and where I work I deal with a lot of dirt and if I can avoid having shit for the dirt to stick to helps me. So I would try and seal it to save me from scrubbing grease and dirt off later.

? Should just the boot be replaced or the whole axle?

Well wait on the oil change till ya do the cv.
Honestly wound be easier to do the whole axle. Just the boot will be messy.
Proably anyweekend wound be fine. I’m usually off early on Friday’s and free all weekend

Hello again Coloradans. If you see this truck please call the police. This was stolen in Denver last night!

I hope you get it back, but I bet it's being parted right now. That truck is too eye catchy to drive around stolen. crossing fingers you get it back though.

 

Adding some bracing straightened it right out.

Was about to drill a large hole to get to the oil drain, and realized the mid skid comes out fairly easy and the rear skid is self supporting. So Not gonna drill that hole for now and keep it all nice and protected. If it gets to be a pain, then I'll do something about it. Just changed it anyway, so should be good for a month or two.

tacky as hell, but you won't see it until I flip it, and that won't be the focus anyway.
