Don't the bumpers come primered? Or does the factory primer suck

I'm looking for a bumper also for my 08. I could not find any one who bought a bumper from Ebay to see how good they are. The best deal I could find for a OEM bumper was $185 shipped to my door. This was from Toyota Parts Overstock. That is a primed bumper. I found a few that were colored match but they were not OEM. Not sure how the fit would be for non OEM bumpers.

Here is my eBay bumper, about 6 months old, in the sun all the time. It is probably temporary until I find something I like, haven’t found one yet though. I like the Body Armor bumper, but I’m not completely sold on it due to the issues I have read about. Anyways, this one is fine for now:

Yup, 3rd gen bumper is entirely plastic. Only metal is a thin sheet across the top under the plastic you step on.

That looks pretty decent. Very similar to the plastic overlays you can buy

As has been said, a take off from any 2nd gen will work.

If it's chrome or a color that doesn't match your truck, you can just prep it and paint with bedliner for a nice satin or gloss black look.

Or you can paint to match with rattle cans from Tower Paint

If you take your time you can do a pretty good job with their products, especially for something like this project.

Ive considered this. I'v painted primed panels before but never prepped one cuz it was so much work. Im not sure if it's worth it eith mine because it has a few small dents so i may be better off buying a primed one. Those don't need any more prep before painting, right?

I have a chrome bumper and hitch I’m looking to get rid of. If you could work out an express I’m sure I could get it up to you.

If you want it just let me know. $75 and some elbow grease and it could be black. Haha

Black, as in black sand pearl (color code #209)?

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/263145275960?ViewItem=&item=263145275960

I bought my #040 (super white) rear bumper from this same place. Arrived intact, well packaged. You will need to swap your brackets & plastics over from your original bumper (or buy new ones). For the price it's hard to beat, unless you find a local take-off bumper.

Yes, that's the correct color. How is the quality of this thing? Is the metal real flimsy? I'm also not sure, do all bumpers fit the tow hitch? I need one that does

Quality is fine. Didn't measure metal thickness, but it felt on par with the bumper I replaced.

Yes, all bumpers fit the tow hitch.

I just looked at my bumper and it has a solid metal plate on the bottom where the foot step is that bolts on to the tow hitch, like on the pic BravoTaco posted above ^^. This bumper doesn't have any material there. Is there a piece Im missing?

That would be one of the pieces that you'll need to swap over.
