It is a 36 month lease, with 60k allowable miles. It will be returned at 74K miles. 14K mile overage. $2100 is overage. Given a new one will be leased, historically Toyota has split that with me, using the pull ahead method on a new lease. With the mileage deduction, it being registered to a Corporation Lease, should be a wash :) I got it late 16, so its going to be 2 years soon.

My 18 I bought last week, is a lot lower lease, at 45K total miles. Similarly won't get maintained, and it will have a lot harder life next 36 months on the farm.

Funny. When America was isolationist it was such a shitty American mentality. Then when America tried to provide some stability to the world it was such an American mentality. Now America pulls back and expects its partners to do their fair share and some guy who doesn't change oil on a leased truck has such an American mentality.

How about we call the guy what he is, which is disappointingly inconsiderate, and leave out the part where we generalize 326 million people :)

Thats still good oil. Run it through a strainer and use it in your lawn mower.

You would think I am using THEIR money to LEASE MY TRUCK, and I am HURTING THEIR newborn baby, the way these guys react here. If they knew anything bout auto leasing, they would see 90% of leased vehicles are used exactly how I use mine. Then again, they won't let facts get in the way of their opinions.

My friend was here from Australia. Rented a car, put on 17K miles on it traveling to Alaska and all over USA. in 2 months. Didn't baby it, never changed oil. Heck at least I CHECK my oil. He didn't even do that.

Judging others and looking down on others...is recurrent problem on this site...and by all the Internet Millionaires in the 3rd gen section especially...

I'm just wondering how @PROseur got a LEASE on a TRD PRO...

Another observation and that is, @PROseur's next truck is a 4 cyl.

So karma already tco'd the way I see it.

I live in a large US city... maybe not generalizing 326 million but I'm betting there's a shit ton of folks like that or worse. I got cursed out yesterday for basically being a white guy. Not changing oil on a truck he doesn't own... meh.

Proseur could be a slacker.. but he's no hater. Haters suck.

All vehicles can be leased through Toyota. Dealers use TFS or USBank. They don't care how a truck is purchased, as long as it is purchased. Mine is purchased by the leasing company, and leased back to me. That is how vehicle leases work :) Pro isn't any different. It is a ONE PAY lease through TFS. The 18 SR 4 cyl I bought is for my farm. It is for farm hands to use. IF it had a 3 CYL I would buy that. For $22,000 I am happy it has an engine.

You believe in Karma. I don't. World goes on :)

I don't curse white guys. They help me have an amazing life in the US.

Just another reason not to buy a lease return used, or a rental car.

I’m just curious if your going change oil before you return it. It’s easy to pull one valve cover and verify that oil hasn’t been changed by the sludge build up and staining of the parts.

Not the directions I thought this thread would go. Happy Friday Tacoma world.

Yes. Truck will get oil changed at 73,500.

Of the 17 leased cars I return, not a SINGLE inspector opened the valve cover to verify anything. They never even open the hood.

Agree 100%. Yet tons of people buy previous rentals. Look at Enterprise or Hertz car sales. Heck on Ih8mud, someone just paid $60,000 for an ex RENTAL Land Cruiser.... imagine the abuse that thing took.

That’s how I treated my last yard man lawn mower. Briggs and Stratton engine back when that meant something. Got like 15 seasons out of it. Repaired or welded the chassis at least three times. The last time it broke I said screw it, time to junk it. Engine NEVER let me down though.

But that was my lawn mower.

It’s OP’s right to drive/treat his lease however he wants. But I’m just thinking that an extra $100 out of his pocket for 2 oil changes (which he apparently can afford) would likely change the life of that truck.

Some poor hardworking young dad buys this truck off lease because of ‘Toyota reliability’, and 2 years into it all shit breaks loose.

Before you say he had it coming for buying off lease, thats like saying she had it coming for being where she shouldn’t have been.

Again, it’s totally his right to abuse the truck and move on to the next one. We all have our methods and my apologies for judging.

In reality the truck is gonna be just fine after the 43K interval. I wouldnt do it to mine since I purchased and plan to keep it a pretty long time, but his will be fine. Also, I think they should just add maintenance cost into the lease price and require you to bring the vehicle in for all intervals. If it bothers someone that bad, I'm sure @PROseur would let someone buy an oil change for his truck :p

There is probably something in the fine print making him liable for damage due to neglect. If the lease vehicle is damaged to the point that it's worth Toyota's time, they're coming out on top. Then we'll see who the baller is.
