Sure thing. I'll PM you. I just wanted to see if anyone else was noticing an issue. I didn't want to bring up a problem that may not be tune related.

I had 2nd Gen 4 banger and had to turn ac off if I had to stomp it from a stop to get that added power.
Less of an impact on this v6 but still there.

If you bought Tacoma because it’s a Tacoma and you love Manuel like most here,YOU MUST GET THIS TUNE ASAP.
This tune was worth it from version 103c.
    You will be blown away.

    Mostly stuff I built.

Second gear in my truck has had a dead spot in it from day one. Only happens when I really should be in 1st gear but try to carry on any way in second. I agree the lack of throttle response there is kind of dangerous and can get you in some sketchy situations.

A tune can only do so much. No matter what throttle response or even full throttle if you're at near idle speed or barely above 1000 rpm in a higher gear it's going to bog and pull slow until you get into a more efficient RPM range that can produce more torque. I can't make this 3.5L act like a V8. Hell even the LC500 with a 470HP 5.0L has no power whatsoever under 3000 RPM. Go into 3rd or 4th gear and floor it under 2000 RPM you're not going to accelerate faster than a prius.
depending on configuration this truck can weight 4400+ lbs, and a 3.5L v6 at very low rpm isn't going to take off like some expect

    Mat,

You have done wonders. I drove the tune on rural and highway roads today. Wow! Total pleasure to drive. Huge improvement in torque above 2k.

    Nicely done!

    Thank you.

I'm not disputing the tune but I would like to see some hard data on the improvement of the tunes. Seat of the pants tells us yes there is something but how much? Maybe some zero to 60 times on the stock tune and the 104. Dyno results if someone has access. I realize the driveability improvmments can't be measured but curious on the performance gains.

after 1.03 where we make our most gains with 91, all improvements from that has been to create a more stabilized tune with smoother drive-ability and increase in mpg/efficiency. Not every update that comes out increases power. There has not been an increase in performance (as in measured horsepower / torque ) from 1.03 and 1.04.

So was there any performance gains with the 103 on 87 octane over stock? What was the measure performance gains on the 103 91 octane?

Take your truck to the drag strip stock, then tuned, and find out for us.

On 87 octane no, I have explained this quite a few times I think, getting more power out of 87 is very very difficult because the ignition is knock limited Even bone stock is already knock limited on 87. Yes the dyno sheets are on the alpha thread

Strange then that members are reporting very little difference between the 104 91 octane and the 104 87 octane. :notsure:

You mean to tell me my Tacoma won't drive like a Tesla? I want power and I want it NOW!!! :angrygirl:

Come on people.... It's a truck. We all welcome the added low end torque (shown in dyno charts), but this truck is never going to be competitive on a drag strip or road course. Keep in mind 90% of the tune improvements were with driveability and not performance/power. NA motors can only gain so much with only a tune. The fact that Matt was able to shift the usable torque down into the lower RPM range is a huge benefit even without being able to add 100 HP/TQ.

THIS!!! There are days where I'm wondering why the F it is driving so damn good (I'm stock tune)

And then I'll park it and come back a few hours later and it's back to driving like shit

I’ve logged about 1500 miles on 1.04A 87 so far. Yes that is correct. Yes it just came out a couple days ago.

Everything that I said in my earlier post is still true. This revision is fantastic and there are no issues here. The power delivery is so much better now it’s pretty incredible.

    @OVTune nailed it with 1.04A

I agree. Very smooth and linear power delivery. I'm not sure how much more could be done to make the drive-by-wire feel like a cable.

From a rolling stop I went from 2nd gear to 4K then I tried from 1st gear rolling stop to 4K rpm.

I didn’t experience anything out of the norm.

You rev to 5k? You youngens are crazy.

I've noticed this too, totally get Matt's explanation on it. I wish there was something to do about this, I personally hate first gear in this truck and try to avoid it at all cost.
