I plan on getting a Bedrug. I'm assuming bed stiffeners are out if I do.

BTW, anyone know if the Husky brand one is any better/worse quality?

For those who don’t mind, what’s price of Bedrug + install?

I was quoted $400 on an ACLB for the bedrug, another $70 for installation.

Looks like price is the same. Could certainly save on installation if you wanted to roll your own yeah. YMMV.

    Hey guys

Sorry to dig this up and sorry for all the quotes but I have a few things to say that I want you guys to hear!

All my issues with Bedrug in my DCLB have now been sorted out.

Many Thanks to those who's messages I quoted, and anyone else I missed that positively contributed to this thread. Because of all your guys work I was able to resolve my issues with the Local Cap-it dealer. Thankfully the owner the Cap-it was more than understanding.

    wudbuchru
BedRug has embarrassed themselves with this fiasco. Reading this forum, it seemed obvious you have some sort of affiliation/investment with them. Nothing wrong with that, however if they are wrong, they are wrong. Call a spade a spade. And in this case they are dead wrong. If it wasn't for the guys doing the legwork in this thread, and this phenomenal community of owners, I would have returned my Bedrug due to the extremely poor fit irregardless of the front rail being there or not.

To think, there are 3Rd Gen Taco owners out there with Bedrugs that don't fit well at the front bulkhead and that bunch up on the tailgate, and many of them will just shrug thier shoulders and move on. All because they don't have the patience or time to deal with the senseless negligence of BegRug not modifying the rug fit the 3Rd Gen correctly. And when they finally did they moronically didn't change the part number. And as far as I know they still haven't changed the part number so this issue will continue.

I didn't really have the time to deal with this so it lasted over 6 weeks and a 3Rd bedrug until it was finally solved, and that only because I made the local cap it dealer go through this entire thread to see what the problem really was.

All that being said, now that it's all done right I'm happy with the product itself.

Again thanks to those who went through all this so guys like me could the right product for my truck installed correctly!

    Thanks for this write up.

Now, how do I know I’m getting the 3rd Gen Bedrug and not the 2nd Gen version when I place my order?

    Kruiser -

This is a tough proposition. If possible I wouldn't order online because if they get it wrong the hassle of shipping back and forth will be a nightmare.

I would first advise whomever your ordering from that you a need stock delivered after mid 2016, I believe. Even then, it's always entirely possible that Bedrug still has some older versions that they are sending out? If anyone has information about this please chime in.

My local Cap-it showed all the relevant information (I provided it to them in a summarized email using info from this thread) to thier Bedrug dealer and they were able to get the right rug.

There's a post in this thread about the installation manual page which states what adjustments to make during installation if you have a 2nd Gen or 3Rd Gen. That revised manual would only be in the revised Bedrug which allows for proper fit in 2nd OR 3rd Gen Tacomas.

Remember that the front bulkhead piece of the revised version (one that will properly fit the 3rd Gen) has 2 strips of Velcro running the full width.

Thankfully you won't have to attempt to install it to know if it's what you need. As soon as you open the box, look at the front bulkhead head piece for the double Velcro strip and look at the manual too.

If you'd like I can forward you a copy of that email which my local Cap-it sent to thier Bedrug dealer.

I hope it will be easier for you than it was for me. Once it's done right, you'll absolutely love it.

    Good luck!

Guess I won't know which version I get until it arrives. They removed the long bed side cubbies above the wheel wells on the 3rd Gen right? I've got a power connector on my drivers side that I used for my FWC. I plan to continue to utilize both cubbies in the future.

FYI, they gave you the wrong BedRug. The one you have is for 2nd gen Tacomas - note the gap between the rug and the front bed tail. The BedRug for 3rd gen Tacos extend up and under the front bed rail.

You really don't, because the part numbers are the same.

I ordered through my local 4 Wheel Parts and stressed to the salesman that I want the proper one, for the 3rd gen. He said I'd get the right one, and I did. All I know.

For anyone that may be wondering, the Decked drawer system fits just fine with a full BedRug liner, even though Decked's site says it won't. Installed Decked myself last night, following their instructions (which are amazing, by the way), and had zero issues. Fitment is easy peasy, drawers slide great, no problems at all.

Just had my Bedrug installed, and I think they did a great job. Def got the 3rd gen version, thankfully.

How does it hold up over time? It’s held by velcro and screws from the factory fasteners and screws? Any issues of the rug coming loose?

Super clean install on my 2018 off-road. 4wheelparts did a great job installing lighting in the bed as well.

At this point I can't imagine anyone getting the older version of the Bedrug unless you are buying from someone with some really dusty old stock in a corner...

I know all our stock and most vendors we use rolls over every 2 weeks or so...

If anyone needs a price let me know... we offer some great discounts to forum members!

Forgot to report back. Mine went in fine. The side cubbies aren't totally secured but that's because the plastic clips broke. I got the new version with the taller cabside piece. I left it as is and punched holes for the bolts to reconnect the front track bar.

Installed my Bedrug yesterday. Overall not too bad of an install. Ordered on Amazon and got the newer version. I did have to trim to place the front lower anchors and then again to give a clean look with my caliraised bed stiffeners. I did have a difficulty with installing the cubbies as I couldn't pull them out completely due to previously installed bed cubby caps from micwillia. I managed to wrap the rug around them but the bottom middle screw hole I just couldn't get the carpet up behind the cubby. I'm fine with this though. On the newer version for the 16 and up the back pad goes higher due to not having the rear bedrail. But I installed a bedrail so I had to put the carpet bedind the rail and punch holes for each screw of the bedrail.

Overall I'm super stoked with this product.
