Got my Medicare card in the mail yesterday and some other papers for prescriptions which I don't take. Don't know what A & B will cost me, then supplemental insurance. Feeling older already.
One of my eyes has a area that is red the last three days, need to take a "red eye" trip now?
Woodshed is 90% full, just have some wood laying out to dry some that goes in, then I'll be done except for some kindling. Man, this was hard this year, especially using the splitter on the rounds from the snag I had felled, big ass rounds, still wet but got them split into quarters at least so they can dry and I can stack them. Yard is getting reclaimed. Loaded up bigger chunks of bark off wood I had split and taking it to the garbage transfer station today, they handle it different I think and it is only $5 for a pu load, will be easier then burning.
Have to ready the balance of my garden area for planting, but next week is supposed to be cool, so may have to wait another 10 days when the moon is still favorable for above ground crops.

I'm not on Facebook either. I did join briefly about 8 years ago but then closed my account I just did not see the value of knowing everyones daily routine. I do see the value though as people get older and can keep in touch with far off friends
or family. I just dont really care that you baked cookies today or what your dinner looks like. My wife is though so she can keep me informed.

    Morning all:
X2 on the "Happy Mothers Day" to Sue and others!

THIS STINKS! Walleyes aren't cooperating and the weather isn't either! :( Could be on the river fishing for shad, but the rain is keeping it just high enough to make it tough to fish, it's not unfishable and could probably catch them but would prefer lower water levels.

I never thought I would get out of the Over 50 forum, alive! Well, I turned 60 a few months ago, so I guess I may make it just a little longer (not that I totally want to, always)!

Never thought I'd see 40 alive.

    Then 50.

I'll be 61 soon. Started having health issues around 56. 60th birthday was observed as "my last big number".

The health started improving rapidly about 6 months ago. I'd be OK with making it to 80 now.

My dad always told me to wear old age like a badge of honor. I hope to. Hope you can too.

    Thanks for the reply!
I was born in September 1957 (the dawn of the space age) and am only slightly peeved that we are not in hover cars and have bases on the moon, like Walter Cronkite described in his show '21st Century' (do you remember that?).
I can't believe my 'mind thoughts' are basically the same as when I was in high school (Class of 1976). Like you, my health took a dive compared to all the years I never needed a doctor... all the crap happened after I turned 55, too. The heart (Arrhythmia) , the pinched nerves (loss of feeling or tingling), can't fall asleep without meds, etc. I guess it boils down to the primitive fact that we were not designed to last this long and without medical miracles, we would be long dead by 65.
I have worked full time since I was 22 and have had my own business for the past 20 years. I suppose it is time for me to get some rest? The only problem is I am too young for Social Security and have not enough income or any savings to live on. No rich relatives, either... lol!
I am a also published author and if I could, I would be leading more tours down in Baja California, as I had in 2016 for fellow Toyota 4x4 owners.
That's my story, and I am sticking to it!

On Mother's Day 1987 I had a heart attack at the tender age of 42. Was treated with angioplasty ( balloon treatment). 4 weeks later did a treadmill stress test to see if I could return to work. Doc. stopped in the middle of the test and said I must go into hospital for coronary bypass surgery. Got a second opinion who concurred. Said I would be dead in less than a year if I did not have surgery.

Five grafts later I began the road to recovery. Today I am celebrating my 31st anniversary of the heart attack with no further problems. Doc says most patients have to have a open heart surgery redo after 10 years on average.

    Am I blessed or what?

Figure I will do my best to live a life indicating thanksgiving for this extra time.

    35 months for me.
I’d be long done retired it if wasn’t for them raising the age on real working people.
    Tank is running dry.
Can’t pull up to a gas station and fill up. What’s in the tank is all you got.
So gotta take your foot out of it and coast down the hills when you can.

Other than injuries over the years from physical activity l was good till 55.Started losing my hearing on the right side.l attributed it from street bikes, dirt bikes, stand up jet skis and loud auto, body shops.Went to the local ear, nose and throat office.Doc could not find anything wrong, said my ear drums were good.He said lets do an MRI.Found a small non malignant tumor (acoustic Neroma)that had attached itself to the nerves going to my right ear.Lived with it for 5 years because they (doc's) wanted to wait and watch.Long story short there were two choices, surgery (lots of risk due to someone cutting inside your head) or radiation.Surgery is risky, but radiation was less scary.l chose the later and got a dose from a gamma knife last year at Emory in Atlanta last summer.Thats how the hearing aids came about l spoke of a while back.
Everything seems to be ok now.l do have some balance issues at times, but have learned to compensate.l will admit it was the first time in years that l truly felt afraid. But wife and son have stood by me with being moody and feeling sorry for myself. The whole hearing issue made me less talkative and not wanting to be around a lot of friends and people which l never was like. But l survived and will live out my life as long as l am able too!
And Happy Mothers Day to all you ladies out there!

Born in September when school began put me on the edge plus living in Australia when I was 12 for 6 months (winter is summer there) threw me off. I actually enjoyed turning 18 a week or two after my senior year started... I could write my own excuse notes!

Evening all! How is everyone today!? Long hot day here in Tennessee, about 87° this afternoon.Just a bit much to go from the 70's a week ago to bam it's gonna be hot this week.
Wife has got the garden rolling. She has lettuce, tomatoes and onions out so far in the garden, more in a week as soon as she feels the weather will be consistent.Squash, zucchini, potatoes and okra will be next. Can't wait till the tomatoes come in,so we don't have to eat the store bought junk for a while.
