Personally, I like your old grille better, just in black. I agree with getting rid of the chrome bezel though. Either way, you're making progress and your swap looks good.

Tailgate idea that I am seriously considering once I get my Taco...

Plastidip the bumper caps matte black ( like a few folks have done ), vinyl wrap the lower part of the tailgate ( like a few folks have done ), but... use the Barcelona Red tailgate letters ( inserts or stickers, stickers most likely ) to make it stand out. I'm thinking that the V6 could be palstdiped matte black as well. For those that have OCD issues like me, add 4x4 on the left and plastidip that matte black too. Or, just rip the V6 off and have a cleaner look like the pic below. I think this would compliment the Faux Pro Emblems if the "Sport" is also painted in Barcelona Red. Barcelona may not stand out enough though, so a brighter red may have to be used.

Oh, I borrowed somebody's tailgate from this thread, both my apologies and thanks in advance. lol

    Thoughts?

Dude...do what you like. You will look at it every day, and should enjoy how you want it to look.

Not my style, but I am not the one who will be driving it...and when you get out lock it and look back at it, will you smile every time? That's where it's at...the look back.

looks like someone in town bought our old 2016 Tacoma. kinda weird seeing it drive around town when we sold it to a Toyota dealer 100 miles away. was hoping it wouldn't come back to town.

Me too. It certainly is different, but it will depend on whether or not the red stands out enough without looking cartoonish.

I had a very well built 1995 Z28 with a 6 speed manual. I built the heck out of it. Corvette LT4 heads, etc. When I became disabled due to foot issues and couldn't use a clutch I sold it to a local kid. That was 4 years ago. I kept that thing so clean you could shave in the reflection. I see it all the time. I don't think the kid has washed it since I sold it. That just irks the heck out of me.

I love the badgeless look and have done it to all my previous vehicles but I've never had this result.

I used a hairdryer and dental floss, picked away the rest by hand and got the last of the goo off with “goo off automotive”. That left a big smudge that took a while to get rid of and I was left with this. Tried some citrus based cleaner but I could still see it. It was subtle but pretty visible, and made me super mad. But it wasn’t bad enough to really show in a photo. This morning though with some dew on the truck, that’s how it looked.

Haven’t tried buffing. And since I’ve never done that (always had detailers), I was more than a little nervous to side into that.

    Any suggestions?

Wet a rag with WD40 and wipe it to get it saturated. Then take a clean soft cloth and that should remove the residue. That is what I used on my doors and tailgate. Worked like a charm. Then washed the areas and applied wax.
