Shark, Dang! Full moon, the beach is the best, it' like daylight out there under the full moon. Lucky you guys weren' mistaken for bait, by them sharks. We've actually seen shark fins on super calm full moon nights, awesome but creepy

So question for you all that live down there, debating on a couple of things. One do we bring the rv and stay on the beach, any concerns other then dragging it across the sand and making the truck possibly overheat. Second thought just stay in a hotel and bring the golf cart, what’s the rules about them down there and would it be safe if I’ve stayed at the hotel?

Rules on golf carts down there.

Figured staying on the beach wasn’t a big deal as I see several posting about the small trailers being down there.

Well let’s take port a as a ref, you can drive on the beach but you need a beach permit. If you want to drive you golf cart there is another hole set of rules for that, license, ins, all normal driving functions ie blinkers, stop lights, hazards, seat belts, plus beach permit.

What day do you all plan on getting to SPI, Friday or sooner? Reason being you can rent a spot for ur RV at an RV park, easier on the weekdays vs the weekends, not sure if they allow reservations, I'll ask them next weekend for you. How long/heavy is ur RV? Again if you arrive early in the week you can park on the beach close to the access on hard sand, make the taco run and head back to ur camp after, that's what we're gonna do. Get there Friday set up camp and meet up saturday at the wal mart. Regardless if u get stuck, there will be plenty of taco's out there willing to help you out including us. If you plan on camping out on the beach, our group can scope out an area where we can all camp together yet be safe for ur RV, just an idea. As for the golf cart, I'd pass on that extra weight, beach camping is far from the bars and hotels, you can always just rent one $90 or so. I don't typically see atv's on the beach as in town, could be due to protecting greenery. Keep in mind on the beach you won't have water or light access, we run off generators and water resavors. We do go into town later in the evenng to shower and stuff, if that's a camping concern. Either way keep us posted on which u plan to do, we're here to help, and can make ur trip enjoyable.

SPI, is a little different from other beaches I think, you pay ur $10 entry plus the $2 trash participation (Please pick up ur own trash, help keep our beaches clean) no need for permits and stuff, just watch out for turtles, logs in the sand and them dang kids who dart in front of you when ur driving in, while their parents are cooking bbq and chugging a beer. But other than that, fun in the sun!!

Hardhats are out there around mile marker 8 not sure, they busted the old hard hat collection and now this one is growing. Hey look what we just found found last weekend on SPI.. door to know where...This was out by mile 7, as often as we go out there, we're still discovering new things..IMG_1545.jpg

Its a small RV only a 16' one, weighs about 2500 empty if I remember correctly. Wasn't sure if those who were going down early would be setting up on the beach or staying in an RV park. Going down the night before once we got home from work would most likely be the best option and hook up at an RV spot. I wouldn't want to try and keep up with he convoy down there while towing it. Yes please let me know about the RV, park, thanks.

Keeping the beaches clean is no issue, I see the crap just at Port A and I just wonder why people are the way they are at time.

I would love to go to this. Are other 4x4 vehicles allowed on the beach? Like a Yamaha sxs? If not I’ll just bring the taco but I would love to bring the Yamaha as well.

Their more lenient further down the beach for atv's and such. Anywhere before mile 7, pd has a keen eye for safey and wrong do'ers but deeper in pd won't bother you, just don' t let them see you on the greenery.

I'm headed to PINS this Saturday-Monday and expect to get sand blasted by 25mph SSE winds. Anyone interested? Stop by if you see my ride.
