You would have gotten stuck this time around I can almost assure you. CC is not that same as it was...at least not through the TDS loop.

Not yet...CC is slippery for that...I would have had to use it if I went up PJ peak which I will attempt next time.

Doug you did warm me and I and I had to find out for myself. There were streams like you mentioned that I have never seem before that mud hole was something else.

The next time we want to try Section 11 on the map...Have you been through that? I don't know what it is called but labeled more difficult. It is a blue section not Black Diamond or Double Black Diamond.

 

I have no idea... All I know that they had to move the fence and there was a left trail that I went through to avoid the mud...that left trail was widen by someone who wanted to avoid the mess. It was messy and clean up would have been a bitch, when you have the exhaust underneath the mud you know it is deep.

Hey you guys didnt take that fence out right, cause the rangers are closing down alot of trails up there the past couple of years for land erosion... Next time were up there, i'll show you where there used to be some really good trails...but we can only look from a distance now.

 

We didn't take any fence down...it was already down and people have been taking that route for the most part. The FJs just wanted to have a little fun.

 

Totally off topic guys but...anyone know if we can hike, backpack, or camp CC. I've seen deer and turkey there and also is wondering is trapping or hunting is allowed also.

Yeah you can hike and camp(in designated spots) up there. I camp up there alot. You just have to deal with motorcycles flying around the trails at night. But its a pretty good spot to camp and party at. The rangers and sheriff's are pretty chill also

 

Thats cool, just keep people on the trails up there. Ive been up there a couple times in the past month. Ive noticed the sheriffs are parking at differents spots on the roads giving tickets for trail exploration

 

Cool thanks peejay...I wonder if I have to set camp at designated spot or can I bivovac and make base camp and any spot for the night and pack up and hike again.

 

Yeah ,pics don't do those mud pits justice when me & Richard went out there a few months ago I hit one of them & my truck dissappeared up to the driverside headlight, the bottom just falls out & your on your own .....

 

Doug, why did the FJ Cruiser get stuck? Driver error, no 4WD, no A-TRAC?

 

Very simple, he hit that mud expecting 14'' of mud & got about 28" instead Factor 2: When he started he should've been prepared to put the gas pedal to the floor & not let up until his rig started to get gain movement & elevation out of the ruts below, I've gone thru this same mudhole 10 plus times & this approach to it has never failed me, dont get me wrong its deep & long & very do-able just like deep sand ya gotta keep forward momentum or you fail, simple as that for this run......


I should add that locked or not the approach is the same.
