    Hello all,

I bought the speakers/tweets from the links in the first page from the following post:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/premium-audio-upgrade-for-less-than-250.510424/

I have the two front doors done. I have am now stuck on the first rear door. I have the sound deadening done and everything is ready for the speaker to be plugged in, however, I cannot get the negative wire from the harness to go all the way on the metal post on the speaker. The positive wire went on fine, but the negative wire which looks like it should clear everything is barely going on. I have verified the polarity and wire hook up is correct. I have tried each harness on each speaker and also flipped the wire around but nothing works. Is this the way it is supposed to look for any of those that did this upgrade or know about audio installation? Thank you in advance for any help!

Mine was a little tight too, I just opened the terminal up slightly with a mini screwdriver.

Crazy fast response :). I am going to try it right now. Thank you for the help.

P.S. Anyone doing this install, trim your fingernails or that black adhesive stuff from the OEM plastic piece will get under there and be a pain to get out!

Now take some pliers and crimp it back tight, so it doesn’t come off easily.

All done. Thanks for the crimp tip @SearArtist . I would not have done that had you not said anything. Thanks for everyone's help! One rear door left and I will finally be done!

I have a question about the sound deadening material. What kind? And how does it go in? Adhesive backed stuff?

It is made by noico and you can purchase it on Amazon amongst other places. The backside has adhesive and you simply put it where you want it and use a roller to flatten it against the door.

Does this stuff make for a real PITA if you have to get behind it?

also interested in hearing feedback on the sound deadening. I've upgraded to kicker all around. Is this to improve sound system quality or is there some vibration/road noise I am not hearing that makes the sound deadening a necessity?

I used stinger fast rings when installing my kicker upgrade. No noise deadening. Not able to compare, but others have complained about not getting enough bass when upgrading, I have plenty for my tastes. There are 3 parts. One behind the magnet, one between the bracket and door, one between the speakers and bracket. Everything is super solid in there. I don't expect any rattling ever.

I used some of that Noico when I did my door speakers but only put it in the door cavity, it made the doors feel a little more solid and am sure it helped a bit with sound too. I am going to pull the rear seat and do the back of the cab with that stuff too.

Did the rolling down of the window interfere with the rear pad ?
Are you concerned if the rear pad gets wet ?

Out of curiosity i watched a YouTube video on it and they trimmed that pad for clearance.

It didn't. I didn't do it myself however. So I don't know if there's a trick or trimming that might be needed to make it work.
